View Full Version : International Transfer UK-Canada

I will be moving back to Canada and have a couple of questions that I can't seem to find answers for. I have a fairly new Amex Plat which I love, but the Canadian Plat seems to be a poor match for me.

- I have about 4 months left on the UK card. Can I get a refund on the balance or keep/transfer the card?
- If I use the International Transfer, do I have to pay for a full new year, or will the fee be due at the end of my current year (at which point I would likely cancel).
- What happens to MR points? I only have about 15k (change of job changed spending and travel patterns a lot). Would they just transfer to Canada? Should I just transfer them somewhere and be done?

Thanks

While I didn't use the global transfer (they don't transfer Cent UK to US) I applied for a IDC Cent and the remaining months fee for my UK Cent was reimbursed and MR were transferred to my new account at the prevailing exchange rate, so I went from nearly 200K to nearly 400K to reflect the GBP to $ rate.

Hope this answers some of your questions.
