SAS EuroBonus - Hotel preference in Gothenburg

I'm flying to pick up a Volvo from the factory in August. The two hotels with availability are the SAS Park Avenue and SAS Scandinavian. Any recommendations?

I'm sorry I can't help you with hotel advice, but that Volvo deal sure did sound cool. Hope you enjoy driving your very own Volvo around Sweden only to take it home with you! Very cool!

On a more serious note, I agree with the recommendations for Park Avenue.

The Radisson SAS Scandinavia is much more new and fresh than Park Avenue and is located in the centre

The travel agent says only the SAS Scandinavian has air conditioning. Do the summers get that warm so as to be a factor? (It's 91 degrees in NC today).

Seems like your travel agency is right, only SAS Scandinavia hotel seems to have aircon according to radisson.com. It can indeed be very hot in the summer season in Sweden, up to +30 celsius, I would choose a airconditioned hotel if going in june to august.
I had a drink in the lobby at this hotel a few months ago, it seems to be a very nice hotel, the lobby area is very relaxed and nicely furnished with several reastaurants and bars. It´s located next to the railway station and just a 2 minutes walk from the big "Nordstan" shopping complex as well as the famous "Avenyn". Trams and buses stops just outside the entrance for easy and cheap transportations to other parts of the city (don´t miss Liseberg, biggest amusement park in Sweden, sure worth a visit).

I'm excited! All orders are 10 percent off local sticker price, except xc90, which save $685 (delivery fee). All orders give 2 round trips on SAS and one night in Gothenburg. They are eligible fpr SAS or United frequent flyer miles.
Any deliveries accepted before August 29 get two tickets to Gothenburg, 2 nights Gothenburg, flights to Nice and 3 night at Hotel La Perouse overlooking the shore. I'm thrilled.

XC90 delivery date is out of the window for the spec trip to Nice but still will enjoy Stockholm &Gottenburg: Have you gotten a delviery date and if so have you dealt with travel agency: curious as i would like to get as much information as i can plan better: Depature cities seat charts and hotel selections:

An S60R I gather (the sedan - the estate is the V70R)?

The Overseas Delivery Forum (http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=55) at Swedespeed has some good information. Several people have written trip reports about the whole process - some have webpages with photos, etc.

Seems like a great way to buy a car!

The Park Avenue is much older and worn down than the Scandinavia Hotel (I have not stayed at Park avenue but people have told me, although I have stayed at the other one).

Radisson Scandinavia has a pretty good location just opposite the railway station with walking distance to pretty much everything (shopping, restaurants, places to go out, sights).
The hotel consists of a huge atrium where there is a restaurant (where the breakfast is also served) and a very nice bar which looks like the kind of place you would find at a beach resort somewhere warmer. The bar is actually a little house right inside the atrium. Great atmosphere and nice drinks as well.
There are also several waterfalls and "rivers" going around the atrium.

Rooms are typical Radisson style, quite large with all necessary amenities.

There is also a very nice fitness club in the basement with a large gym, sauna, swimming pool, and jacuzzi. Free access for hotel guests.

Generally I have been very satisfied with the hotel. Courteous staff, good location, and many great facilities. Nothing to complain about.
The American president George Bush stayed in the hotel during the EU summit in Gothenburg in 2001.

I'd pick the Scandinavian. The Park Avenue is run down and the staff isn't very intrerested in providing good service. Rooms are ok but no more.

Park Avenye is not a SAS hotel anymore, it is run by Elite. I saw that last weekend when I was in GOT.

BTW, Scandinavian is miles better than Park Avenue anyways!
