Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Anyone going/gone to the Good Food & Wine Show (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth)

This is a pretty big commercial enterprise but it's a trade show cum consumer national (almost) roadshow. the Gordon Ramsay sessions are pre-sold out (but tix available on the day they say).
The most popular sessions are sold out (for this weekend's show in Sydney (http://www.goodfoodshow.com.au/page/sydney_visitor.html)). GF&W Show website (http://www.goodfoodshow.com.au/).

I'm just wondering if anyone here is going. As it's such a commercial operation there are plenty of sponsors so I figure some FTers might be involved through sponsorships or freebies.

I predict Glass will host something for 'food show celebs' staying at the Sydney Hilton. There was a 'hot deal' (https://secure.hilton.com/en/hi/res/choose_dates.jhtml?spec_plan=PR44HD&spec_plan_desc=Hot%20Deal%20&hotel=SYDHITW) with rooms from $180 associated with the show.
Diners Club is a sponsor, so $5 off the $25 ticket with their card. Friday night session is separate from the daytime ticket. For the Melbourne show there was a similar discount for RACV, so NRMA might offer a similar deal. MEL also had a 2-for-1 deal, not sure if that will happen here. Friday's After Dark booking page here (http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/event/1300407BA624D3BF?artistid=1116695&majorcatid=10005&minorcatid=0). Note the 2-for-1 code islifestyle, for the Lifestyle bogof offer. There's an Entertainment Book bogof offer too.

Going to a food show seems like a pain but the wine and coffee sampling opportunities make it more interesting.

Has this mega event (or the overexposed GR) hit your radar in any form?

I'm from Melbourne, love my food/wine, and not planning to go.

I live in a good fine&wine city, 365 days a year. I don't need a Ramsay to remind me of that.

Great for tourism though.

I often go to the Melbourne one. It's becoming more and more consumer oriented though - the first one had lots of commercial equipment and so on which was fascinating.
