I called and asked what type of car I will be give for my PREMIUM car reservation. The agent told me that it would be a 2 or 4 door car. She also said it was going to be a Chrysler Malibu!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Hopefully she was misinformed.
Anybody know what I might be getting?
Thanks,
SR

Probably a 300, that is one of their most common cars in their fleet. But it could be a Malibu. Dollar has a lot more "class" creep then some of the other agencies. They consider a basic 300 a premium car and a 300 Limited as Luxury, but in reality, its pretty much the same car, with just a few different options.

Cool thanx! A 300 would be EXCELLENT! This is Mexico though . . . standards are a little lower than in America. Anyways, please explain what "class creep" is - im lost in the lingo lol.
Thanks Again for the responce!

No problem...Class Creep refers to how a lot of car rental companies have started to include lesser class vehicles in higher classes, like offering a Toyota Corolla as a Midsize, when in actuality it is nothing more then a compact.

Of course, class creep also refers to the tendency of automakers to slowly make their vehicles larger than when they were originally introduced, most likely as they try to one-up the competition with stats for interior volume, engine performance, etc.

For example, my 1997 Altima is much smaller than my friend's 2007 Altima. Mine would be considered a compact, while hers is definitely a midsize--if not larger (I know one Enterprise branch that has Altimas as premiums...).

The Camry's gotten bigger, too--my grandma's early '80s Camry was definitely a compact car (smaller than my Altima!), but her 2007 and my grandpa's 2008s are both too big to fit in my garage! The Corolla's grown, too.

The Taurus used to be a small midsize car...it grew to the point of being a large midsize car (rental agencies considered it a fullsize), and then the 500 was re-branded the Taurus, and now it's clearly a fullsize.

The new Honda Accord just barely fits into the fullsize category (by interior volume, according to the EPA). I wouldn't personally call it a fullsize car (compared to most rental agencies' fullsizes--Chargers, Impalas, 500s, etc.) although some agencies now do, but give it another generation.

But yes, as fleet costs go up, rental agencies are tending to err on the smaller side when assigning cars to a size class. Of course, the general public is starting to prefer smaller, more fuel-efficient cars, too, so it hasn't been a huge problem...
