Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Annoying Beep after loading Marriott Rewards web page (M Concierge)

OK, Marriott IT wins the annoyance award for this one. Anytime I go to Marriott Rewards home page when my sign on is remembered, I get an loud annoying beep. Then after entering my password, I get another loud annoying beep. It also happens whenever one returns to the https://www.marriott.com/rewards/rewards-program.mi page after navigating elsewhere. If my sign on was not remembered, then when I do sign on to Marriott Rewards I get the loud annoying beep.
Is this a feature for those that are blind? If so, perhaps Marriott could tone down the volume just a bit, and/or choose a freqeuncy that is a bit less annoying; especially since those who are blind have a keen sense of hearing. If not then please get rid of it unless it serves some other useful purpose, but please make it less annoying to the other 99.9% of us.

Was there some flash advertisement on the top of the page with a couple riding a motorcycle? I got that beep a number of times and I think it was connected to the ad.

Click the "Contact Us" link and ask them to remove it. I have....

The beep is awful. I turn the sound down each time I go to the Marriott website. It's the only way I know to get rid of the sound.

Yet another good reason to always browse the web with firefox and flashblock. I hate it when sites produce noise without an explicit action on my part.

I must be in the minority here....I never have my volume on unless of course I am watching a video and turn it off...I cannot stand the sound of turning on and off the computer that the program makes or any other sound for that matter...sorry not meaning to change the message of the OP.

I hear you on that one. I don't turn my volume off as I'm generally listening to music on my headphones, but I will disable any and all noises any program might make. For browsing, I just use a combination of Firefox, Adblock, Flashblock, and NoScript to silence noisy websites.

Well I'm having a problem trying to book anything on the site today, it just times out whenever I try and get some prices up.

The beep is related to the Ad for power Up promo that is going on right now. Hopefully Marriott fixes their flash file or we have to wait until June 30 when the promo sign up ends. the beep startles me once in a while.

I had a few windows open and I almost jumped out of my chair when I heard that beep. Good thing I at least know where it came from!

Have Drew or Marie seen this thread and have they provided feedback to Marriott IT? If so what's up?

whoever came up with that annoying idea on the website must forget to do user acceptance testing...

Maybe it is the same great IT developer who decided the last .CR@P downgrade would not allow certs from travel packages to be attached properly???

If the past two major Web/IT downgrades are any indication, we know that Marriott's IT department does minimal subpar testing at best. I will leave it at that... see how kind I can be when I try (and if you don't think I am being kind check out my posts from last fall). :D
BTW, last major downgrade was October 2007. It took them over 6 months to address some of the issues. Are we ready for the next software downgrade?
FWIW, we still have to call to make a reservation and not have points deducted. For me that means I have to call for pretty much every award reservation since I make most of mine 11 months out.
Does anyone know if they fixed being able to order a travel package without having a reservation. I know Chris said last December that they were going to fix it; but does anyone know if it actually did? Personal experience?

Wow! Thanks very much, Concierge Team. Someone listened (and not to the beep!!) But now, like Pavlov's dog, I'm conditioned to be apprehensive whenever I go on the website and see that scooter! ;)

Well let's not go that far ;) There are a lot of important things we've been asking for that haven't been addressed by the powers that be. But glad this annoyance has been corrected.
Cheers.
