Heres the deal

I'm in Oslo and next weekend I'm stuck here over the weekend. So I thought why not go somewhere, anywhere.. some of the options I have come up with are Stockholm (train), Hamburg, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Amsterdam.. I don't have a visa so I'm limited to places that I can go to with just my USA passport

of course I want to do this on the cheap, well at least the airfare

However I don't know what european sites I should use to find airfare.

any ideas?

Yes I will google this as well but nothing like a referral from a FT'er to help make an informed decision.

thanks all

Many of the sites you'll use in the US (expedia) are ones we also use in Europe. Opodo is a European travel site which can price slightly differently than expedia.

However, I suspect you'll be looking more for LCCs. There's a Which site which I'm failing to find that gives you lists of which LCCs serve which airports, which would be a start, but I've never found a website which then lets me search all the LCCs for fares. But be warned - at this amount of notice, fares are likely to be expensive (it's summer here now, increased travel from everyone), with few options for flying on the cheap at this notice.

Good luck!

Skyscanner is great, but the prices are cached, not current.

Most likely you will end up using

http://norvegian.no/
http://sterling.dk/
or
http://ryanair.com/ (note that they use a more distant airport)

www.venere.com can sometimes have some real bargain hotels. And if you search on "promo venere" you usually can find a code good for an additional 4% discount.

www.hostelbookers.com has more primative places, but they are workable.

Why not grab a car and explore the Norwegian countryside... I hear it's beautiful, and certainly less hassle than airfares, airport transfers, etc.?
