I turned in my car at 4:30 in the morning at Oakland airport yesterday. Left a note with my fax number and requested a fax for my receipt (I do this whenever I turn in a car and nobody is there, usually I have a fax waiting in my office when I return.)

I get to the office Thursday morning. No fax. No local # for Oakland location so I call the 877 #, they tell me it will be faxed within 10 minutes. An hour later, no fax. I call again, same thing, it will be faxed. An hour later (expense report now due within half hour for this payroll), still no fax. I call back, they tell me they will fax and email it... hour later STILL NO FREAKING RECEIPT!

I get on the phone again and tell them they can fax it or email it or do whatever they want, but i'm not getting off the phone until I have it. 10 minutes of hold time later, receipt is in my email.

FRUSTRATING!:mad::td::td:

That's one of the frustrations I have with corporate locations--it's nearly impossible to get in touch with someone directly at that location.

I've had some luck locating the direct number to Dollar Thrifty in LAX on Google, and the direct number to Dollar Thrifty in CLT is listed in the reservation terms and conditions, but at most other locations--no luck.

If you want to try to obtain the number for future reference, you can try calling Thrifty across the bay in San Francisco at (415) 788-8111‎ (or also try (415) 621-8989‎, (650) 737-8081‎, (650) 737-8083‎, (650) 259-1313‎, (415) 459-2700‎...or down in SJC at (408) 292-5443‎). You can then ask them to give you the direct number to the Thrifty rental counter in OAK--who knows, you might get lucky! (This is how I've gotten the number for a couple other locations.)

If that doesn't work, the best luck I've had dealing with the national folks is at 877-283-0898, option 4 for customer care (re: previous rentals--that may be who you talked to). If they're closed, the next best people to talk to is the rental help desk--same number, but option 2 and then 0. They're open 24 hours and should also be able to pull your rental up.

Next time you call, you might want to lodge an official request that Thrifty update their Blue Chip systems to match Dollar's Express program feature which allows you to print your receipt online through your Express profile. Enough requests and they may do this. (It's the same system and same folks running the Blue Chip and Dollar Express desks, so I don't get why one can do it and the other can't.)
