The link allowed me to register my skymiles number for the offer even though I wasn't targeted. Has anybody had experience with this? Do the miles post anyway?

Ditto...not targetted, but allowed me to register...but --will it hold if I dump, that is the question.

Good deal, thanks OP!
Kind of annoying that the 20% bonus won't post until after the promotion period is over on 7/31 :td:

I've signed up for similar Amex->Delta bonus offers in the past that had the same T&C caution. However, despite not being an official recipient of those offers (always found out from FT instead), I always got the bonus miles at the end of the promo. Did this 4-5 times, success each time.
That being said, the last time I did this was over twelve months ago, so YMMV, but I would assume the bonus should show up so long as the Delta system lets you register.

Two promos ago I had to fight for 15% bonus because I wasn't targeted even though the site let me register my SM number. Finally got it, but it took about 6 emails.

Last promo, the miles were transferred to my DL account from another FTer in a coupon connection trade. I registered for the bonus miles even though the transfer was from someone else's AMEX and I got the bonus.

I've done that in the past. Now, you cannot get seats on DL flights at any sort of advance time out. I tried for 3 weeks to get seats to Europe 11 months out and gave up and went for AA seats (which I got on my first call). DL is making it useless to accumulate Skymiles-you'll never get 2 J seats on the same flight.

Why do you assume that seats are only released 11 months out? I've had no trouble redeeming for the J seats I want when I want to (generally shoulder season, not peak season) to Europe using SkyTeam partners, including Delta. I don't do it 11 months out, but I do get the seats.

I've never had issues booking our tickets for DL and I've booked anywhere from 2-6months out. Sometimes not usually the preferred dates but always within a few day window.

Much appreciated OP. I know what I'll be doing with my next couple of months MR points. ^

Get a 20% mileage bonus on Membership RewardsŪ points transferred between June 10 and July 31, 2008.
Compare with Diners Club Mastercard offer...
Transfer Club RewardsŪ points to SkyMiles between April 15 and July 15, 2008, and you'll receive an additional 25% mileage bonus.
More time (90 vs 51 days), larger bonus (25% vs 20%).

Agree with the SPG comment.
Also, last time I did this, i had to fight tooth and nail to get my bonus points.

Last year I believe I got 10k MQMs for the annual renewal (July). Is that happening in 2008 or is it going to 5K MQMs? I already got the 10K x 2 for the spending bonuses for 2008. Am I done w/ MQMs for the year?
PS My first post - hope it's in the right place.

I'm a small time player but I have over 100,000 Amex points and would love to earn an additional 20%. Was not targeted but it's probably worth the risk as I'm accumulating SkyMiles points anyway.

I don't think it is a "targetted only" promo. I believe it is open to all who register for the promo. Others, please correct me if I am wrong.

The DL Plat Amex transitioned the spend bonus from cardholder anniversary year to calendar year. Only during the transition year were you able to get both bonuses, so you're done with MQMs. If you need more MQMs you can look into the DL Reserve card.

Curious as to what you are basing this on? Did you try reading the terms posted on the website linked to in OP's post?

I overlooked that point.:o
Although, I was not targetted, I was able to register for this promotion. Does it mean that even if I could register, I will still not get the bonus miles?

I would assume registration is the point at which your bonus is either approved or denied. I can't imagine then setting up redundant checkpoints along the way, but who knows. It's worked for others in the past.
I'm more curious about the SPG 20%, as 333:1,000 isn't a great return.

...it is a reference to using the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card, rather than any Membership Rewards card, because you would then earn one Starpoint per dollar, and Starpoints convert 20,000 : 25,000 to most airlines, including Delta but excluding Continental, United and Singapore.

Okay, got it. Thanks. I have the SPG cards as well, but in my experience Starpoints are worth far more than DL miles and are harder to come by, at least for me, so transferring them to DL is not a good idea. MR points however seem to just keep popping up. But I guess everyone is different, and that's where Coupon Connection comes in.

And, as noted here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=857579), AmEx and Delta have extended the promotion to include MR transfers for August, too.

You may want to give serious thought as to whether a 20% bonus will be sufficient to make up for the significantly increased award levels that Delta will be charging in many instances beginning Sept 1 -- not to mention the $25/50 "fuel charge" imposed on award tickets that began August 15.
My decision was simple: no more conversions to Delta except for use on partner airlines (where Delta also has imposed a $25 fee for granting a partner award!).
