Other European Frequent Flyer Programs - Will Iberia Match AA-ExPlat status?

Will be moving to Madrid, and I wonder if Iberia would match my AA EXPLAT status. I know that living in Madrid, the obvious will be flying IB , but been a mile yunkie (and status perks junkie) If I dont get a status match, I know I will start fliyng to South America through Miami instead of direct just to keep flying AA..

Anyone has asked for a Status Match in Iberia?

I think you are out of luck! AFAIK most EU airlines don't status match. :(

IB's call center won't even discuss it, and emails about the subject are not answered. Same deal with JK.

If you're flying premium cabin, you'll probably be better off switching to another carrier. IB's J product is very good, but is priced double the competition ex-MAD.
