American Express Membership Rewards - Way to get Hilton Gold VIP via Amex?

Hi all. I sooo hope I don't get flamed for this question. A few years ago (05 I think) there was a post here about a # to call to get Hilton Gold VIP and Hertz #1 Club as well. I had it and used it while I had it but after Hurricane Katrina I couldn't travel much. Now I'm getting back in the swing of things and I'd like to start at the top...so to speak. Is this still a back-door option? I'm guessing no, but figured it couldn't hurt too much to ask.

UK Plat get Hertz #1 club -- not sure it's worth anything -- their special 'discount' rates are always significantly more than standard web-rate.

Also get ONE YEAR only for Hilton Gold.

So: the back door would be to move to London via Global transfer -- and be willing to pay GBP300 for the privilege.

Head over to the HH forum and look around. There ALWAYS seems to be a fast-track to gold promo running from one place or another. That is a way better approach than trying to otherwise manipulate an AmEx benefit.

I don't have the HH amex but probably a week for the 20K. (am about to make a large purchase and putting it on cc for points to then pay off obviously)

Definitely one of the the quickest routes to Gold if they will spend 20K in the first billing statement. It will take you one month that way (as Gold will not post until after the first statement closes. And it has no annual fee.

The Citibank Chairman's card gives you HH Gold but has a hefty annual fee.

An HH FastTrack Promo would work if you will be making 4 HHonors stays in, IIRC, 90 days. Search the HH forum to find an available FastTrack promo.

Technically the Plat Ame would be faster, but there'd be a hefty annual fee.

Just made gold on my hilton amx card. Since i don't intend to pay for my Hilton stays with money, do I still get the Gold benefits like upgrades etc?

Yes, you will usually get the benefits of your Gold status even when using points to pay for the room.
