Credit Card Programs - Fixed-point Citi Thank You Network redemption for BA World Traveller Plus?

Does anyone have experience using a fixed-point Thank You Network redemption for travel in British Airways' World Traveller Plus cabin?

Since WT+ is technically an economy cabin, do the standard economy rates apply for fixed-point redemptions, as long as I'm below the dollar limits?

I'd rather get information and feedback here than try to explain my request to a TYN agent who might not have any experience with WT+.

Ideally, I'd like to use my Thank You points to purchase a seat, and then upgrade to Club World with my British Airways miles. Would I have problems upgrading a ticket that wasn't purchased directly from BA?

Appreciate your help.

Can I upgrade my booking with BA Miles if I booked through a travel agent?

No, Miles For Upgrade is only available on bookings made directly with British Airways.

In addition to not being able to upgrade since the ticket wasn't bought through British Airways, TYN will probably not get you a world traveller plus seat. They use Expedia as their booking engine and there is no way to specify WT+ there. Also, when you tell TYN the dates, airline, and flights you want they will purchase the cheapest economy ticket on those flights that show up on Expedia. I had once wanted them to purhcase a Y or H fair (which are upgradeable w/o any fees) on Continental and would still be below the dollar amount required for fixed points redemptions, but they said it's not possible for them to specify the booking and they buy the lowest fare on Expedia.

The only way would be to max the $$/TYN ratio, then ask BA to updrade you directly for extra $$. Worked for me on VA.
