Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - Advice: 1 pax of 3 waitlisted BKK-SYD

Hi all

As part of one of the LH mini RTWs (books into Z on both TG and LH), we have a BKK-SYD sector (10 July). Mrs & I are confirmed on TG995, and waitlisted on TG993 and TG991 (11 July). Master 5 is WL on all. All other sectors confirmed, and needing to ticket by June 4.

This is obviously because of the reduced capacity to Australia in premium seating, and a few other events around that time.

Expertflyer shows:

TG 995 C4 D0 J0 Z0 Y4 B4 M0 H0 Q0 T0 K0 S0 V0 W0
LH(TG) 9710 C4 D0 Z9 Y4 B4 M0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 S0

On this fare, the LH codeshare can also be used, but the local TA cannot see Z availability on the LH codeshare - I believe due to the seats only being available into certain markets? Or perhaps Expertflyer playing up?

The WL has been there for nearly 6 weeks, and periodic ringing of both TG Brisbane and TG Bangkok have been fruitless, other than advice that Master 5 is on the priority waitlist.

Does anyone have any suggestions (or even better, contacts in TG BKK capacity control ;))?

Is there any point in WLing Master 5 on the LH codeshare as well, and perhaps trying to ring LH-USA to get them to try clearing it?

With only a few days before needing to ticket, it's getting quite desperate...

Thanks for any ideas...

P.S. We're all on separate PNRs, and all TG*G

I think it must be an ExpertFlyer problem.

I've checked inventory and see the following:
10Jul BKKSYD TG995 C4 D0 Z0
10Jul BKKSYD LH9710 C4 D0 Z0

Same is true for 11Jul. On this day, TG991 and 992 are full in all classes, so little chance of the WL coming through.

Availability is availability - it's visible from wherever you happen to be (but this doesn't necessarily mean you can be sold any fare from anywhere). I'm guessing on this occasion ExpertFlyer was out of date by just a few hours.

TG can't help you with an LH codeshare, and vice versa. I don't really like your chances, but maybe someone/something will smile upon you and a seat will become available. Your chances would be better if you were all on the same PNR, but then I'm sure you know that already.

Your best bet is for the TA who is booking your ticket to plead your case to TG (and LH). That's what TA's are for... although sometimes they forget that ;-)

For what it's worth, TG most often comes through for me - and for that I am grateful - so I'm hoping you're lucky too!

Please post and let us know how it works out.

I might be tired, but I do not see any discrepancy between your finding and the ExpertFlyer quote reported by the op. They look identical. I have always found that EF was updated real time. Unfortunately, they are only C2 now. However, there are plenty of unassigned seats, so maybe TG applies its usual conservative policy in opening class buckets, to reserve some last minut seats to its "best" customers.
My advice is also to have the TA negociate with TG. It is not a problem of TGhaving biz seats available (there are C2), but of not opening a "cheap" class code. Given that Master is ROP Gold, TG should make an effort to open one Z bucket. It would probably help if you had the same name. Also you could ask for an extension of your booking option expiring on June 4.
I would agree though that flights look very loaded 6 weeks ahead and that is not goof news.

Hi Brunos

The OP showed the following:
TG 995 C4 D0 J0 Z0 Y4 B4 M0 H0 Q0 T0 K0 S0 V0 W0
LH(TG) 9710 C4 D0 Z9 Y4 B4 M0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 S0
wheras my query reported:
10Jul BKKSYD TG995 C4 D0 Z0
10Jul BKKSYD LH9710 C4 D0 Z0

Unassigned seats are different to available seats. Unassigned means the seat has not be allocated to a travelling pax (ie. Joe to sit in 12A). Wheras available means the seat is available for sale. There can be ten unassigned seats and no available seats if all seats are sold but ten pax have yet to have their reservation associated with a seat number.

I agree with both your suggestions, however.

Hi, with only 8 seats still available 40+ days out, it's not good, but I guess you know that, I would always guided by TG, not your TA, if TG are prepared to ticket, accept my payment and continue to WL, then I would. I leave Friday even though I am WLed coming home, but TG have advised the odds are my way. Whoever is saying the airlines are having difficulty filling their planes certainly hasn't flown TG this year. Hope it works out for you and keep us all posted, regards bkkrop

Thanks for all the advice. As suggested by a few, I asked the TA to push TG along and try and get the waitlist cleared. You wouldn't believe it - 2 hours later, TG cleared the wrong waitlist - they cleared the TG993 waitlist for Master 5, instead of the TG995 waitlist that Mrs & I were confirmed on.

So, we now have TG993, me WL, Mrs WL, Master 5 confirmed
TG995, me confirmed, Mrs confirmed, Master 5 WL

TA has contacted TG again, hopefully there'll be some resolution shortly...

Don't push me out of TG 995 on 11th of July as I'm in the same flight ;-)

Yes!

WL cleared for Master 5 this evening on TG995 (and they've cancelled the TG993 segment on his).

We actually prefer the 993 (3 hrs 50 connecting, instead of 9 hrs connecting), so I'll get the 993 WL reinstated and see how we go for the 3 of us (Mrs now has 993 confirmed).

So, at least, we now have all 3 of us confirmed on TG995, with 1 confirmed on TG993 (Mrs).

I'll get this ticketed tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice, and I'm glad it worked out for us (the TA push, plus the triple ROP*G probably helped clear the waitlist).

And, don't worry, e20, our TG995 is 10 July, not 11 July - pity though: it would have been good to catch up in the lounge or on the plane.

Well, we're on this trip now, and just to keep you up to date, we're still confirmed on TG995, but both Mrs and Master 5 are cleared on 993. I'm still WL on 993, but it's showing C4 on the LH codeshare, so there's hope. I suspect Mrs and Master 5 cleared first as they are TG*G with GUP2, while I have no GUP2.

In case anyone is interested, I've been progressively reporting on this trip in this (http://http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=840548) thread over in Trip Reports.
