Starwood Preferred Guest - Singapore: Sheraton or Le Meridien?

Staying in Singapore for a week in June, have a choice of Le Meridien and Sheraton. I am thinking about splitting the stay into two (3 nights at one property and 3 nights at the other). Any recommendations on which property is better (SPG Gold here), in regard to service, amenities, location? I can also split 2 + 4 nights, or any other combination (splitting is for stays count only).

Also, I will be arriving either hotel at 2am, do I need to book the hotel from the previous day (i.e. arriving on the 16th at 2am, do I need to book a room from the 15th or the 16th?) or the actual calendar day of arrival (although it will be a VERY early check in then)?

Looking for going to Singapore Expo center during the day on weekdays and out to clubs/restaurants during the nights/weekends. Any recommendation is appreciated!

Hi,

Sounds like you'll be in town for the CommunicAsia, where I'll be heading to as well.

I normally stay at either the LeMeridien, Sheraton Towers or Intercontinental, whenever I am in SIN.

As a Plat, both LM & ST have provided nice upgrades to suites, with the LM being more consistent (7/8) while the Sheraton (3/5).

As Communic is at the EXPO, it may be convenient to get there via the MRT to avoid the traffic snarl from the city & probably some traffic around the EXPO area as well. Both the LM & ST, have got MRT stations within walking distance, but I'd say the ST would be located closer to the MRT station.

I am also in your shoes, am trying to break up my stay at perhaps, 2 of the 3 properties. Also, the rates have been raised due to the event and am hoping it may go down to more reasonable rates.

Cheers!:D

Exactly! I decided to go with just one Starwood stay this trip, but not going to risk staying at either ST or LM for too long, as a result staying at Shangri-La for first 4 nights, and at ST for the last two. I just couldn't see myself braving either one of Starwood properties there for longer then 2 nights. At least I'll be comfortable most of the time in SIN and will still have a stay out of it.
