Starwood Preferred Guest - Best Boston Cat 4?

This is my last hurrah on SPG points. I changed jobs, stopped traveling, and lost my Plat status. But I have enough points for 1 week in Boston. Any suggestions?

I'd prefer to not have a car... so a safe walking/public transit area would be good. And somewhere that they treat non-plat members okay.

The general consensus is that the Westin Copley Place is the favorite... but that's Cat 5. Sheraton Commander in Cambridge sounds like it has a good following, but I couldn't find anything on Le Méridien Cambridge.

The search function didn't yield anything either. Any thoughts?

For my money, the Westin Copley is the best *wood in the city. The Commander is in Harvard Square in Cambridge, which is nice, but not the same as Copley Sq in Boston. As for Cat 4's - my favorite would be the Sheraton Back Bay. Just two blocks from the Westin Copley and walking distance to Fenway Park, Copley Sq, Charles River and connected to many shops/restaurants/etc just like the Westin Copley. An especially good location if you travelling during the summer and dont mind walking.

I guess it really depends on how much time you are spending in the actual hotel. Is it worth the extra 2K-6K points/night to stay at the Westin Copley vs. the Sheraton Back Bay? Not in my book...

if you are talking copley, i personally prefer the sheraton. i've written my reasons in the boston threads so there is no need to repeat them here. i also like the westin near the airport.
