The new Fresno Downtown Holiday Inn opens today. The company website is still showing a June 10 opening and first reservation date but the Grand Opening will be today. The 9 story property has 200 rooms.

The Holiday Inn Fresno Downtown officially debuts at 5:30 p.m. with a grand opening celebration that marks the end of a troubled time -- and the beginning of a new era.

All the rooms are refurbished and equipped with 32-inch flat-screen televisions, Internet and wireless connections and double, queen- or king-sized beds. Photographs on the walls show a pictorial history of Holiday Inn.

Fitness and business centers are open 24 hours per day, and it has a pool.

Restaurants include Cafe 1055 and Downtown Sports Bar. The Sky Room on the top floor opens in mid-June with a stunning view of the city's emerging skyline and beyond.

"This is a great place to have a drink and enjoy the view," Deckel said.

Has anyone stayed here? What did you think?

My husband has a free night to use, wants to use it on a business trip (he owns the company), and every property in Fresno has availability. Which property would you chose?

DT property while recently remodeled looks rather depressing. Old building (fmr Hilton AFAIK) garage shared with some sort of local casino, noisy bus terminal nearby etc etc... It's OK for a quick overnight so I stayed there twice on PB awards on the way to yosemite.
Given a choice I'd rather pick a brand new HIX somewhere outside - there is one on 41 near a giant River Park shopping center.
Fresno is a hotel wasteland - it's hard to recommend anything...

That's very helpful, thank you. It sounds as though the property you like is this one, also available on the free night promo award:
