Starwood Preferred Guest - Bali with a baby?
I'm planning on taking my wife and our baby to Bali sometime this fall (probably Oct) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best SPG property for a couple with a little one (she'll be 8 months old in Oct).
I always like places that treat Plat's well, but I'm up for anything.
Thanks for any advice!

BigJ, welcome to FlyerTalk and the Starwood forum. I love Bali, but have never gone with a baby. Hopefully someone who has will be along shortly to help.

Welcome BigJ to Flyertalk,
Both Properties treat Platinum really well.
The westin has a more business feel to it as it is attached to the convention center. Mind you business in Bali is not really business.
Both properties will give you an upgrade. At the Westin, I get a suite 100% of the time, at the Laguna less than 50% of the time but they do upgrade you every time, even if it is a pool access room.
Both hotels are resort and very family friendly. Only worry would be the Laguna if you get a room with pool access, there is a door to open but my worry would be baby finding its way to the pool, although at 8months, I don't think it is too much of an issue.
One final point, the two properties are right next to one another, so you could check in for one night, inspect both hotels (you can walk through corridor and little pathway) and make your commitment for the rest of your stay once they have given you a good look at the room they are willing to give you... being platinum
Enjoy wonderful bali.

JohnSin, there are currently 3 spg properties in Bali (Laguna, Westin and LM) and the 4th (St Regis) will be opening soon.
Regarding the Laguna's pool access room, they used to have restrictions on the age of guests staying in these rooms but I dont recall reading such restriction when I last stayed there a couple of months ago. In any case, they have ballustrades and a gate with a latch for access, unlike the Conrad's where one could easily jump (or fall) in !
I think the advantage of the Westin is probably the Heavenly Crib, if they have it in Bali ;)
Thanks for the insight. A Heavenly Crib; who knew there was such a thing?
I'm trying to book this trip using C&P so the lower catagory of the Westin is appealing. I'm guessing if there are next door to each other than the both are probably pretty equal in their beach location and access.
Anybody have any feelings on the hotel restaurants? Other restaurants in the area?
Thanks again!

Other restaurants in the area?
Quite a few restaurants at "Bali Collection", Nusa Dua's open-air mall . Its too far to walk but they have a shuttle which isnt really an option if you have an 8 month old with you.
I dont find any of the 2 resorts' restaurants to be particularly good, but if I have to pick one, "Ikan" at the Westin would probably get my vote; beach side seafood restaurant : ok food , quite nice ambiance if you go alfresco.

Nothing too heavenly about it. Mircro DUF sleeps in it as bad as in any other crib.
