Hello,

Costco has a coupon for this V-Moda Vibe Ear Bud. I wonder how these things work for noise cancellation in flight? (Sounds like you need to have music going at least as it does not have any power source.)

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=825086 has some good information but I wonder about this brand.

http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Vibe-Earbuds-Gunmetal-Black/dp/B000V5L5MG/ is the link

The Bose is too big. I had a JVC but it broke (was on a UA A320, when the engine started, the audio reset to the MAXIMUM. I was pulling it off my head in a hurry and the ear units separated from the rest). This ear bud is small but I wonder how well it will work.

Thanks.

Good timing. I've got a set on the way here to review. I'll have them by Tuesday and will post my review as soon as I've played around with them.

Thanks.

These are not noise canceling - they are noise isolating. It is the same as using earplugs.

You got the most recent model I think. Here's review of the newer model:http://www.macworld.com/article/133445/2008/05/iphoneheadsets.html

I ordered the Vibe Duo:

I've used a pair of Vodas for a few hours and they are decent earbuds in terms of sound quality but I found their sound isolation seemed markedly poorer than other brands (etymotics, shure, westone etc.). For low end in-ear buds, I'd plumb with the westone UM1s (just over $100).

V-Modas were not designed as in-ear monitors of the traditional isolating type, so it doesn't really offer any meaningful isolation. You have to go Shure, Etymotic or UltimateEars (and other smaller manufacturers) for the isolation in-ear monitors.
