My SO and I are headed to ANC on 6/7 to take advantage of UA's DEQM, and we are going to make a week out of it. Neither of us are real hiking people, we have no problem getting out of the car and walking around for a bit, but we are not made for half or full day hikes...we want to see as much as possible, not be TOO rushed (we can always come back some time, as we are only in our 30s) and not spend all too much. I currently have our first 3 nights at the Sheraton in ANC, as I got a great Cash/Points rate, and I figgured after 12 hours of flying from NYC we will be dead when we land, and we could base ourselves from ANC. We don't have a problem driving long distances, but then again we don't want to waste days just driving...I was thinking maybe flightseeing some parts, as we did this in Hawaii and saved alot of time and saw some GREAT sights...I am sure I could piece together a trip myself, but I am sure I will miss a bunch of things I should have seen. The only things on my list so far are ANC and Denali, but I don't know how much time in either, and if we should go to FAI, or what...Help? ;-)

If you're going to Denali, afterwards drive up to Fairbanks, and then take the long way back to Anchorage via the Richardson and Glenn Highways (Highways 2 and 1 on the map). That way you'll get a big loop of Alaska and see some nice, varied scenery.
