I am already Platinum for next year... how about a "Black" level (like the Amex Black Card). To qualify you need 50 stays or 75 nights a year and you automatically get put into a suite at the time you call (versus getting it when you get to the hotel and check in... BTW Loews does this in their Platinum program). Also add another 10% to the 50% bonus, and offer customers 4 times a year the ability to book a trip with over 3 nights at half point cost....
Just a thought... I am curious to your feedback Starwood.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
There actually is a VIP status available through invitation only by Starwood. This level provides many of the benefits you are proposing.
Again welcome to FlyerTalk!

The thing is I am not eligible for VIP, I am not a famous person, business owner, etc. There should be a way to get to VIP without being a VIP... if you follow.

Levels above Plat have been discussed lots of times on this forum.

I doubt that you will get any "official" answer from the resident Starwood Lurkers, other than perhaps a "no comment" or noncommittal type of answer. They don't generally seem to engage in speculation on the future of SPG, nor do they make any promises on what the future will bring, at least not till something is actually official. @:-)

First, welcome to FT.
Second, 'there SHOULD be'...? Really? As in a right to get to it in a way that fits you? I think you are saying it would be nice if there were a way to get there that you can hit..that's fine. But 'shoulds' are not really part of what you want.
Sorry, that just sounded very whiny.

I'm in total agreement with this "A+" post from KathyWdrf!

I couldn't agree more, especially since this has been discussed numerous times in the past.

Honestly I think that's way too easy 50 stays or 75 nights? I know a ton of people in the company I work for who are Platinum like my self with SPG and other programs and we stay in hotels atleast half the year if not more. I'm sure we're not the only ones out there like this. Basically my point is that if you're wanting all these things (suite upgrade at time of call, 10-50% bonus, and 3 times a year to use half points) you need to make it much more difficult to acheive so there's not thousands of people making it unavailable to you to use this status.

The bottom line is that preferred "memberships" are offered because hotels (or airlines or whatever) want you to do more business with them and believe incentives will accomplish that. It has nothing to do with anything except that.

I know in the hilton forum this topic comes up often. Overall I do not see the hotels worried about people that stay 200 nights a year, Marriott being the only exception I know of. I am unsure why. Maybe it is too hard to figure out there travel patterns or they all want something different. If SPG did a lot more it would change my stays and give them 100 plus nights a year, but I do not see the reason to at this time.

And after getting the SPG VIP you will get the call from UA for Global Services. :)
