It would have been nicer if they just offered video inputs instead of limiting their service to just one brand of players :(
The iPod isn't even that popular in some parts of Asia...

The article didn't discuss which routes and they might be transPac or to London???
FWIW, in the past few years, recommended to a couple of Asian boutique hotels that we often frequent to purchase iHome for their rooms and according to management, met with extremely popular reception. At least Taiwan and HK, and parts of China. Can't speak for the two gadget capitals of Asia: Seoul and Tokyo ;)

Seoul = iRiver land :)
The current route it's on is EWR-SIN with LAX-SIN following in the fall.

Actually, all seats in the 777-300ER and A380 aircraft have video-in (Composite). You can plug any Composite output device and watch the video using the screen.

In my opinion, the most compelling thing iPods have going for themselves is their wide support by third party accessories and devices (I don't want to call a BMW an accessory to an iPod). In my opinion, what the competitors need to do is come up with an Open Standard which allows interconnection with their devices in this style. Right now, there is not that much incentive to build docks for Creative's, Sansa's, Zune's, Stilleto's, but if they were to create a uniform dock, they could even the playing field.

Lucky me, EWR-SIN is one of my regular flights. However I prefer using my etymiotic earphones when sleeping :p

At the Westin Long Beach, they now have new Life Fitness machines with Ipod jacks, as well as USB jacks. And HD TV's. Only in America!
(or at Asian hotels that cater to Americans)

It's a nice one though - there are iPod hacks to BMW 7-series as early as 1994 :)
