I hope this isn't too daft but I'm only just starting to get my head around the whole mile/point collecting and benefits business (having been travelling a fair bit the past four years and not even realising). But.....

When the Qualiflyer programme ends, what will be the relationship between the various new brands that replace it? Is the the case that we will still have one air miles programme but under different names (dependent on airline) or are they completely separate?

Also, how does this change affect the benefits available? For example, will I be able to use Qualiflyer points to buy an upgrade on say, an SN Brussels (who I've been using quite a bit of late) flight?

If I find myself regularly using one of the former Qualiflyer airlines other than Swiss Air (who I registered with in the first place), will I need (or be able) to transfer my miles?

Would I still be able to transfer priority club points/amex rewards/Diners Club points to air miles programmes in any of the former Qualiflyer airlines (of which SN Brussels looks the most likely at the moment)?

Regards, JH
Dazed, confused but I don't care cos I just got upgraded to a bigger room I didn't even know I was entitled to!

Interesting in the Privelege scheme is the possibility via AA to collect and spend miles on the AA codeshare flights with LX

Full details on award types and prices will be available as from January 2003 on the websites of the different schemes.

Many thanks for that.

As I don't generally get much choice as to which airline I fly, I'll just have to have membership of both them. I sort of tend to avoid Swiss because of a bad experience the first time I flew with them though.

The AA stuff is interesting and may well be a good way to earn lots of additional miles at a reasonable price point when travelling to the US (normally starting in Manchester).
