Do I need to get an SUV if I'm going to ANC but want to try to drive into Denali?
The Denali Park road is only open to private traffic to mile 15, which is the end of the pavement.
I'd save your money and get something smaller.
Rental car companies won't let you take rental cars on any of the "fun" roads, anyway, like the Dalton Highway, Denali Highway, McCarthy Road, etc. Basically anything that isn't paved.

When are you arriving? Depending on the season, a 4-wheel drive might bea good idea. Summer, driving, pass on the SUV.
