Diners Club Club Rewards - 50% BA transfer bonus, June - September 2008View Full Version : 50% BA transfer bonus, June - September 2008 mia May 6, 08, 7:03 pm https://www.citibank.com/dinersus/jsp/clubrewards/catalog/english/travelbonus.jsp ILUVCITIBANK May 7, 08, 12:19 pm Is my math off, or is spending 35K to get 50K only a 42.8% bonus and definitely not 50% ? ???? =============================================== Exchange Club Rewards Points for 50% More BA Miles Plan Your Summer Travel Now with British Airways Your vacation to London and Europe is closer than ever. From June 1 through September 30, 2008, exchange your Club RewardsŪ points for 50% more BA Miles. Just 35,000 points will give you 50,000 BA Miles - enough to fly round-trip in World TravellerSM (economy class) from the US to London or select cities in Europe.* mia May 7, 08, 3:29 pm Diners' example is inaccurate. If you need one, and only one, economy class ticket the math is: $33,000 = 33,000 points = 49,500 miles (short 500 miles) -OR- $34,000 = 34,000 points = 51,000 miles (over 1,000 miles) It's easier to makeup a 500 mile shortfall than it is to spend 1,000 excess. However, if you need more than one ticket, or prefer a higher class of service, it's easy to earn exactly 50% more. For example: $100,000 = 100,000 = 150,000 miles = 3 economy roundtrips or 1 first Cclass transatlantic roundtrip. jbalmuth May 7, 08, 8:42 pm I'm somewhat surprised that this year's bonus is the same as last year (50%), and not more generous given the huge LHR T5 troubles that BA is currently experiencing. There are currently a raft of BA fare specials underway on both sides of the Atlantic...and I would have hoped, given their troubles in filling their planes, that they would have authorized a return to the 100% transfer bonus given in previous years.... mia May 8, 08, 3:19 pm ...a raft of BA fare specials underway on both sides of the Atlantic..... I think it it more likely they will increase award seat availability or offer temporary reduced redemption levels because miles are not necessarily redeemed at time of transfer. icbkcnbjicc May 8, 08, 4:24 pm Jan. to April. Starwood 1 point=1.625 BA No fee :( mia May 8, 08, 4:55 pm Jan. to April. Starwood 1 point=1.625 BA No fee :( Yes, but it's not that BA offered a 62.5% bonus. SPG is always 1:1.25, and the BA hotel point transfer promotion is 30%. It's 1.25 x 1.30 which yields the higher total . In any event, that promotion is over, this one is starting, and is valid at merchants who do not accept American Express, such as our home insurer who will render an annual bill in September. Spent_All_My_Miles Jul 21, 08, 10:16 pm I transferred some DC points today to my BA account. The DC rep said someting that I do not recall hearing in any previous 1.5x (or 2.0x) promotion -- she said that the base (1:1) points will post normally (i.e. 2-3 days) but the 50% bonus points will take 3-4 weeks, as it is up to BA to post them. She mentioned that this was a comment she had to read to me as part of the fulfillment process. This has never happened to me before. Is this something new, or is DC simply wrong? Brendan Jul 22, 08, 4:55 pm I have always gotten all my BA or other miles from DC at the same time--a few days later. |
