Alaska - FYI - Hertz HLE ANC - Mistake Rate?

If you're renting from Hertz in ANC, don't limit yourself to the airport.

I pulled up a 10.99/day rate for a Mid size SUV (Toyota Rav4) at the city location (414 K Street).

If you have an Entertainment Book w/the $5 off coupons the rate dropped to under $10/day.

This worked for both a same location return OR an ANC airport return

However rentals picking up at ANC didn't show this rate.

Pickup at ANC with everything else the same pulled up the same car @$138/day

I booked and actually hope they switch me to a midsize as I'm no fan of SUVs. :)

My ressie is for June 6-9 so I guess it's just a wee bit shy of amazing ;)

btw, it's still there and the Car & Driver CDP that's posted in the Hertz forum brings it down to $9.89/day

fwiw, I checked the rates for the next weekend and the rate shot up to @$21/day :)

brings down rates to a low of $19.99/day. ^

T&C s say it's good at both airports or HLEs but the dates I tried only produced results for pick up at the ANC HLE

Wow--awesome deal...I just checked Travelocity, and the cheapest thing in town otherwise is $69/day.

I'm pretty sure it's a mistake rate, or maybe a national promotion that probably isn't supposed to work here (I'd just about guarantee you that when the Hertz local city manager sees these $19.99 rates, he'll call corporate HQ and call for somebody's head...I'll do you all a favor though and not email him!).

To head off any possible issues at the ANC HLE about the $9.99/day rate I was quoted and booked, I decided to save a screen shot of the new and almost as low DRIVE rates that I found last night.

Whaddaya know....they are now quoting $14.99 ./ day :D

The DRIVE rate code is not working for me for a pickup at ANC on June 15. I guess I'm right in that peak vacation period. :(

Both the ANC and HLE locations are showing no cars available for my dates, which are June 15 through June 21.
