Qualiflyer - Swissair's 'Beyoo' (a sort of a Swiss Orbitz)goes bankrupt

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Das Internet Reisebüro Beyoo hat seinen Betrieb heute mittag mit "sofortiger Wirkung" eingestellt. Gleichzeitig habe der Verwaltungsrat von Beyoo beim zuständigen Konkursrichteramt das Konkursverfahren eingeleitet, heisst es in einer Pressemitteilung von Beyoo. Von der Schliessung betroffen sind 40 Mitarbeiter, denen laut Mitteilung während der Kündigungsfrist vermutlich keine Löhne mehr ausbezahlt werden.

Das Ende erfolge aufgrund der Blockierung des Vermögens innerhalb des Swissair Group Cash Pools. Das Beyoo-Aktienkapital sei nach der formellen Einzahlung in Form kurzfristiger Darleheh zurück in den sogenannten Cash Pool der Swissair Gruop gegeben wroden. Dieses Vorgehen habe den entsprechenden Bedingungen innerhalb der Gruppe entsprochen, so die Mitteilung. </font>

Another 100% SAir-Groupe daughter company: Beyoo (a SwissAir Orbitz version, launched in late spring 2001) goes bankrupt. Another 40 jobs lost. Beyoos' shares were 100% signed and 'paid' by SAair-Groupe (he Swissair Holding) beut 100% of the capital signed was immediatly end entirely 'given back' as a loan to the 'mother' ...

company history <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Development on Beyoo initially began toward the end of 1999. The Swissair Group provided all the resources needed to set up a new travel platform and - in close collaboration with our IT partners Hewlett Packard (Schweiz) AG and Atraxis - the first beta version was developed in the fall of 2000. This was then rigorously tested and ine-tuned before Beyoo went online on March 16, 2001.

In the middle of March, Beyoo launched a broad advertising campaign with the slogan: .Don't be a tourist. Beyoo.

We started the preparations for a pan-European roll-out in June 2001; Germany and the Netherlands have been operative from September 2001 as the first international markets.

The difficulties of October 2001 within the Swissair Group and the following close down had a dramitic impact also on Beyoo. Even though the company was launched successfully and on track with its business plan, Beyoo had to file for bankrupcy on 29 October 2001</font>
