Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Jet Airways joins AsiamilesView Full Version : Jet Airways joins Asiamiles kingbat Apr 29, 08, 12:43 pm Jet joins asiamiles - are they cozying up to oneworld even further! G-man82 Apr 29, 08, 10:58 pm Jet joins asiamiles - are they cozying up to oneworld even further! I don't know. Jet seems to be allying with many different airlines, and besides, by partnering with VS, BA pulled out of their previous agreements. I'd like Jet to join oneworld, but I still don't think they're intersted in joining a global alliance yet. CX's move surprises me though. I didn't think they'd show much interest in 9W because they compete directly on the Indian route. But then again, there really isn't any way around that. cxfan1960 Apr 29, 08, 11:51 pm CX's move surprises me though. CA and MU are also in Asia Miles, although they compete directly with CX/KA. MKE-MR Apr 30, 08, 1:22 am Source? I can't find mention of this yet... Never mind, found it on the AM site G-man82 Apr 30, 08, 9:24 pm CA and MU are also in Asia Miles, although they compete directly with CX/KA. Good point. They compete with BA on the LHR routes as well. I guess I was just swayed by the thoughts a while ago over in the Airlines of India forum that CX is wary of competition with 9W, brought on by someone mentioning that CX is moving the 74A over to the BOM route to compete with 9W's J product. But I think a partnership is a better option. daniellam May 1, 08, 9:56 am CA and MU are also in Asia Miles, although they compete directly with CX/KA. Isn't Asia Miles part of a company called Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd. (CPLP) which is a seperate company from Cathay Pacific Airways? It seems like that any airline willing to pay CPLP for the AsiaMiles can join even though they may be competitors with CX. Seems like a lot of airlines have spun off their frequent flyer programs. cxfan1960 May 1, 08, 10:10 am Isn't Asia Miles part of a company called Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd. CPCS is another example, and they cater better food to SQ compared to CX! It is quite usual in HK for companies to set up subsidiaries like these. mosburger May 3, 08, 3:52 pm What booking classes are available for Asia Miles and tier points? Also, does Jet fly to regional destinations on the Indian subcontinent, say Bangladesh and Pakistan? cxfan1960 May 3, 08, 7:27 pm What booking classes are available for Asia Miles and tier points? Also, does Jet fly to regional destinations on the Indian subcontinent, say Bangladesh and Pakistan? Booking classes for AM are already on the Asia Miles web site. 9W is not an OW member or an affiliate. The miles should not be qualified for tier points. 9W flies to Bangladesh. I am not sure whether any direct flight between India and Pakistan exists. tedhl May 3, 08, 7:41 pm from http://www.jetairways.com/Cultures/en-US/Hong+Kong/About+Us/Our+Network/?UserPref=culture%5Een-U With over 380 flights daily to 43 destinations in India, we connect a place every 5 minutes. It would have to be a codeshare most likely. I know AA Codeshares on BRU-India routes, but you'd have to fly AA metal to BRU first from the US. I didn't think it was policy, but I flew MX to MEX on the AA codesharea few months ago, and I earned both Asia Miles as well as Club Miles. |
