Virgin Blue is the recipient of multiple 2008 Freddies:

Industry Impact - Rising Star Award: Virgin Blue Velocity

"Every few years I look for programs that become buzz worthy," says Randy. Like in 1999 when he singled out Alaska Airlines as a Rising Star.

He also gave a Rising Star award to Hilton HHonors and look where that program is today.

Virgin Blue Velocity has been singled out as the industry's Rising Star for this Freddie Awards. Virgin Blue won a Freddie last year for Best Award Redemption - they've created quite the buzz through their no capacity controls.

Magali Olive from Virgin Atlantic accepts the Freddie on behalf of Virgin Blue.

"Thank you very much and Virgin Blue thanks Randy." They must be doing something right! Congrats Virgin Blue. Randy is watching you!

FFP Program of the Year [Japan, Pacific, Asia, Australia] Australia's Virgin Blue came in at second place (rising fast), up from last year's fourth place finish.

FFP Best Award Redemption [Japan, Pacific, Asia, Australia]: Virgin Blue Velocity
Virgin Blue Velocity wins its third consecutive Freddie in this category. As the program's Web site reads, "You can use your Velocity Points to redeem on any flight operated by Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue or Polynesian Blue - any seat, any time. After all, points are pointless if you can't go where you want, when you want."

I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. ;)
