Other Car Rental Programs (ie. Alamo, Enterprise) - Car Rental in France...

I will have to rent a car in Paris in July for a few days to visit Normandy then again in Bordeaux, Arles, or Avignon for a stay down south - ( sorry,still finalising my schedule!)
This is the first time that I have had to rent as extensively. Any input from all of you experts about who is the best company to deal with and who offers the best rates/service would be MOST appreciated!
Also, it appears that I will have to pick up on July 14th and I was wondering if all of France closes up on this day! Thanx in anticipation. :confused::)

I have had cars from Avis, Hertz and Sixt. Always take the best/cheapest offer.

The agents at CDG are really unfriendly. Avis agents/girls at Gare du Nord are very friendly ... they even searched their books for a nice discount.

The rental agencies at both airports and the bigger train stations should be open on July 4th. Many agencies in the center are closed on weekends and holidays.

Took a quick look - the results are overwhelming! :) My concern is pick on July 14th - Bastille Day. I can imagine evrything will be closed up that day! Any thoughts anyone?

However, they might have no cars! Avis at Gare du Nord had only a Renault bus for me ... nice, expensive car, but huge .... I drove to Orly to change it.
