Air New Zealand Air Points - Removal of seats 1A/B/C in 737 ??

I was called today by AirNZ who advised me that my booking in 01A on flights WLG-CHC 19 Sep and CHC-WLG 21 Sep (Kiwi Do II) required a seat change as 'row 1A/B/C' is being removed to make way for increased seat pitch.

I was offered 01F instead. I was curious about why Row 01D/E/F was NOT being removed - and the staff member was unable to answer (I guess she wouldn't have known).

Anyway, anyone else experienced a similar call, or have a view on this?

Looks like all 733 flights from June 02 have these seats blocked. I presume you had already OLCI'ed which is why you were called. Reminds me that I need to book for the CHC Do

I think it will because of the postion of the galley and one some 737s DEF all ready have more room the the other side.

Though it is with interest that we await information about the configuration and who will get it [I take it your NZ number was in that booking?]

Also how do you know so early what flights you will be taking to the Kiwi Do two?

Regarding the Kiwi Do II, I just picked flights that bracketed the weekend that suited me..... down Fri am back Sun pm - easy! :cool:

yep, the booking was made online from, my AP account and so my number and status would be evident.

Does ZK-NGP allready have the new seating plan?

I do not think anyone has posted this but on the 9 (?) 737 that have the Space+ refit seats 1A, 1B, 1C do not exist.
1D, 1E, 1F have enormous amount of leg room, while 2A, 2B, 2C have more legroom than the other non-row 1 Space+ seats unless flying ZK-NGR which I think is one of the leased ex-Air Malta aricraft. This is due to that aircraft, ZK-NGP the other one, lacking the closet for the IFE giving extra inches. Oh the lack of IFE means no Kiwi Trivia and that the safety display in manual with only the soundtrack played.

I wonder if they will fit the old IFE sytems from the a320s into the 733s with out ife.
