How is VX handling upgrades? If F has seats can I upgrade via web check-in or is that restricted to only at the airport for same day travel? Anyone done this before? Thanks

Yes. ;) SFO 1K Apr 21, 08, 11:43 pm When you check in for your flight, select the option to Change Seats. Then, select a First Class seat (or a Premium Seat if you want to stay in Main Cabin). The system will let you know the cost of the upgrade and you can accept it or decline it. After accepting it you will be prompted to confirm the form of payment and once that's completed, you'll receive your new boarding pass with the upgraded seat assignment. articos Apr 22, 08, 2:26 am You can do it via web check-in, as was said above (24 hrs before flight), or at the airport (2-4 hours before flight), if the seats are available. FFMilesJunkie Apr 23, 08, 6:00 am At what price was the upgrade offered? We are in 1st on an upcoming flight from IAD-SFO, but our friends are in coach. Will the upgrade just be the fare difference or at a discount? I think they paid about $150-$175 each one way (they paid extra for bulkhead). sfozrhfco Apr 23, 08, 6:57 am It is $50 for short flights and $175 for long haul. Just check in online and select a seat in the first class section from the seat map. It will tell you how much it will cost and ask if you would agree to pay it. Then you just pay for it and you are good to go. EIPremier Apr 23, 08, 1:19 pm It is $50 for short flights and $175 for long haul. BEAV Jul 15, 08, 7:08 am We are flying SFO-SEA tomorrow and have already paid an additional $15 for bulkhead seats. At the moment, first class is wide open, so we'll be looking to upgrade when I do web check-in 24 hours prior. Is it safe to assume the upgrade fee will be $35 rather than $50, with VX giving us credit for the premium seats we've already purchased? SFO 1K Jul 15, 08, 7:47 am You will only need to pay the $35 difference. It's worked perfectly for me that way every time I've done it. BEAV Jul 15, 08, 8:24 am You will only need to pay the $35 difference. It's worked perfectly for me that way every time I've done it. Thanks. We're flying at 6:45am tomorrow, so I just finished trying to do the whole upgrade thing at web check-in. And, yes, the system only wanted to charge me $35 vs $50. But in the end I had to call VX to finalize the upgrade transaction because we had unused credits we want to use to pay the fare differential. Although we were able to book our original reservations on line and pay with our credits, apparently paying the upgrade with credits was a little too sophistocated for their system! But it was a snap getting it handled over the phone. I've never loved and appreciated the city of Burlingame like I do now! |
