It has changed - is dark / blackish with some coloured "rays" at the lower part - Hilton logo in left lower corner and a textblock with name / status and membershipdetails on the left upper side

Wish I had received a new card at all. My card expires in a couple of days.
The last time they sent me one it had already expired before I got it ... The letter was dated May xx, 2007 and the expiry of the card was April, 2007. Duh.

I was diamond, re-qualified as diamond, and the hhonors website shows me as diamond for another 12 months, but I recently received a gold card. When I sent an email to customer service asking for a diamond card, and pointing out that I properly requalified and that their website shows me as diamond for another 12 months, their response was "sorry, but you are now gold". From this experience it seems like they don't even check their own records, but prefer to bank on their prior mistakes.

I had a similar experience (see here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=814934).) When I called the Diamond Desk today, the agent (after quite a bit of "one moment please, one moment please...") said that the cards were ordered on March 25, and I didn't requalify until April 2nd. She stated I should be receiving my Diamond card shortly. What she couldn't explain was why I only received a Silver card, not Gold (the status earned as of March 25th.)

If the expiration of your current card is 4/07 then you're out of luck. It's been expired for a year. If you meant 4/08, then it will be good until the end of this month.

I qualified for Diamond at the end of last year for the first time; received my first diamond card with a Feb '09 expiration date soon thereafter; yesterday I got one of the new "Black Diamond" cards with a June '09 expiration date. Maybe they have decided that they like wasting $ sending new cards every few months?

We received our new (black-ish) Diamond cards yesterday, exp. date of 06/09. This exp. date no longer jives with their previous April expiration dates. I called CS and they told me the expiration dates are 15 months from the time of re-qualification (or qualification). It is almost impossible to figure out how many stays one needs, by what month. But at least the cards are kinda pretty with a modern-looking font... ;)

Does not work as advertised once you reach Diamond. It will only tell you that you have enough stays to maintain Diamond through XX month of YY year.

Same thing happened to me. Diamond requal year ends April 30. I requalified 25th March and 5th April I received a Gold card saying that I did not requalify.
Emailed twice to customer support who eventually said they had reinstated my Diamond membership and I will get a Diamond card in a few weeks.

Mine does the same thing for Gold now that I am not within 12 months of losing it, but I expect it will change back if and when I ever have less than 12 months of status remaining.

I can tell you that it has been that way since I qualified for Diamond over a year ago. Since becoming a Diamond, the VIP Tier Wizard is absolutely useless. I have to manually track with a spreadsheet to see how my continual Diamond renewals are progressing throughout the year.

The same thing happened to me that happened to others. I am a Diamond and will requalify this weekend for the year. Last week I received a card that said I didn't make Diamond, here is a Silver card because we're being nice to you. By that point in time I had already requalified for Gold at least. I called the Diamond Desk and she said that I am Diamond in the system until 4/30 so don't worry about it. She had no explanation at all.

Just got the new Diamond Card and love it....although my collegue in the next office got a Silver Card with stones and I think that one looks a bit more hip (not that I want to be Silver though) -- someone at Hilton must be taking design courses as this stuff looks pretty good! I hope they start working on redesigning the lounges next.

I have found that unobtrusively (yet visibly) holding the card when approaching the check-in area will quite often elicit a more cheerful and friendly reception from counter personnel than just walking up--especially when fancy clothes are not an option.

I've never needed one in the US, but it can come in handy outside the US especially when the reservation is not made in advance, or does not provide detail of your status. I stayed at one hotel in S. America that was booked through Expedia, and when I arrived they insisted on seeing my card before providing an upgraded room. They claimed that they had no way of looking up my status online. As it turned out, the non-upgraded room was fine and much better than expected, so it wasn't a big deal.

I got my new silver card with "rocks". Oh boy - I don't carry them anyways but it certainly does look a lot neater then the plain silver/gold cards I've previously had. An interesting note - on the right side of the page with the card on it was an offer that if I stayed 4 times between 5/1 & 7/15 I'd be given gold status through April 2009. No promotion code and no message about registering.
I'm not sure if I'll have 4 stays or not during that time. Only 2 trips planned so far, but I will probably have a few more stays during that period as well.

I'm guessing that the members list sent to the card makers was out of date, or that they took so long to make the cards that it had become out of date.
So long as your level at hhonors.com is correct, just throw the wrong card(s) away; or recycle them (great ice scrapers).

A "Replacement Diamond" card arrived today, even though the previous card was Gold and the telephone service rep, after research, told me I was only a Gold. The website never was in error, and always reflected my Diamond status through 2009. It only took 10 days to get the card in the mail after clicking on the "request replacement card" on the website.
But, living in Minnesota, we never have enough ice scrapers so I won't complain.
