Does anyone know if the highest loyalty status with HH can be achieved by accruing HH points from say AA transfers, or any other manner not related to actual stays at a Hilton property?

Diamond Status requires XX Nights or XX Stays.... The other points are just the teasers.... To Qualify During any consecutive 12-month period you'll need to complete 28 qualifying* stays or 60 qualifying* nights at participating HHonors hotels. You'll earn Diamond VIP status after earning 100,000 Base points in any consecutive 12-month period. Of course, you can still qualify based on your number of qualifying stays or nights.Source (http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/about/diamond.do) rdchen Apr 20, 08, 10:53 pm Diamond Status requires XX Nights or XX Stays.... In other words, the answer is NO. Transferred points are not "base points." "Base points" are points earned by staying at HHonors hotels. Of course you'd still need to stay the nights to get them... thegoderic Apr 21, 08, 8:01 am Paradoxically, you can do this with Intercontinental, and get to Platinum Status by transferring points in from Amex. At least I think you still can. I managed it a couple of years ago. KathyWdrf Apr 21, 08, 1:44 pm Isn't 100K base points enough? Of course you'd still need to stay the nights to get them... Correct, but I think the OP's question was in essence "do transferred points count as base points?" and my answer above was NO. I know a colleauge who is running a company and has plenty of problems with this. Best is to talk to the Hotel before you charge 10k to your room ;) KathyWdrf Apr 21, 08, 4:22 pm There are certainly cheaper ways to get Diamond status than by spending $10K (regardless of whether you spend it quickly or over the course of a year). Usually, meeting the stay requirement is the cheapest way to go (especially with one-night stays at inexpensive hotels). Also, don't forget that award stays count towards the stay requirement! But restaurant and bar charges do count towards your base points - though not when on conference packages. I regularly host company conferences with about 100 guests. I try to charge as much as possible to my room :D but sometimes the plan doesn't work out ... sometimes it does on the other hand. ethanwa Apr 21, 08, 9:01 pm You can also get Hilton Diamond by asking for it if you have Elite status with other hotel programs (such as Starwood Platinum). They will either give it to you straight away or they will give you a fast-track challenge (e.g. "Do 7 stays in the next 90 days and we'll give you Diamond"). Ethan |
