Just completed ten years as a MPO member and will have done a million Club Miles soon - should I expect anything for either of these?

Perhaps an op-up on your anniversary(?)

As I wrote in another thread, I was upgraded from Y to C after reaching 500,000 CX miles. A checkin agent explicitly states an upgrade for 500k.

By the way, I am approching 1M CX miles.

My uncle also told me lately he's upgraded from Y to J on a HKG-LHR flight although Y wasn't full, and it seems like it's because he just passed 500k total lifetime Club miles (or is passing 500k with that flight) - and it seems to be total Club miles (not just CX flights), and not Asia Miles.

they specifically mentioned it's for 10 years as an MPO member ? or 1M Club miles ?

I'm approaching my 10 years too I think...but only at the Gold level for 1-2 years at the very beginning, Green for some 6-7 years, only got back to Gold during KA merger based on KA Plat, and have been Diamond for 1-2 years since then. so only have ~half a million Club Miles so far...see if there's any chance I'll get something too at the 10-year mark ?

is this 1.5M Asia Miles or Club Miles ? I think the OP refers to what he got for passing 1M Club Miles.

I too have been a Club member for almost 10 years and have earned ~2M Asia Miles, but most of these came from credit cards and I have been crediting all my oneworld flights to AAdv before the KA merger (when flying KA I only need my KA status and MPO means nothing to me)...so in terms of Club Miles I have only <500k...still a long way to go to get this "attractive" USD 100 coupon... :)

The same applies to anniversaries - intervals of 5 years since joining the club. Again, this only applies to silver members or above.

Question, 5 years since joining MPC or AM? When I check my MPC account I can only see the year that I joined AM though.

CLUB MILES. Done my minumun 120k miles each and every year since the start. Just crossed 100k for this fiscal (Nov 07 to-date) year. The upgrade on the threshhold (1mm, 1.5mm) really is not an option. But I do get a nice calander book each holiday season.

so does it mean being a higher elite would get more benefits?

Yes if there are empty J seats. I have two friends that told me they got upgraded to J and was told it's because they pass the 1 million miles benchmark.

However, a third friend was denied op-up because J class is full, but the agent did congrat him on getting pass 1 million miles. He even asked if he can get the free op-up later and was told "probably not." Doh!

In fact, all 3 said they got free op-up at 500K benchmark.

Will pass 1M club miles when I complete a long haul roundtrip in 2 weeks so will report back.

I do recall getting op-up (subject to space) on these 'special occasions'

- flying on actual birthday
- passing 500k club miles a few years back
- 5 years as CX DM

I have racked up 120 000 in 5 months so at least 200 000 + on cx alone never mind what I do with other airlines so will be interested to see if they monitor new flyers racking up miles in premium cabin at a fare rate of knots under current circumstances

You might get upgraded to DM+. DM+ is based on revenue spent on Cathay. Would be nice to be DM+ with the sharks' fin card. With a lot of exclusive privileges..e.t.c

Is DM+ equivalent to BA Prem? What are the benefits of DM+ besides what's shown in the FAQ thread. It would be nice to hear from someone who has actually obtained the status...Also, would other OW carriers recognise this special status to be higher than OW Emerald?

I was offered an upgrade from Y to J at check-in specifically for passing 1 million club miles (the check-in agent said this and i also saw the message on the screen). As I was travelling with family, I declined this although when i got to the lounge, as I was eating breakfast, one of the lounge agents asks if I'd be willing to be upgraded if needed - I asked if it was because the flight was full and she said 'quite' - so on that basis and with the full approval of the other half, i said yes if needed. Surprisingly, 3 mins later, the agent gives me a new boarding pass for J.

On the flight itself (to NRT), J had about 18 passengers and Y was only 80% full so it seems like CX was quite insistent I got upgraded that day.

Last year got a display box filled with 10 or so historical CX FA/pilot wings (lapel pins), with a plaque on it saying so and so passed 2m miles in MPC... thought it was a one off thing, but apparently everyone who passes 2m miles gets the same thing as I found another person who got it.. nice for display if you have the space, but kind of useless..

I'm past 1.2 m club miles, and don't remember getting anything on passing either 500k or 1m miles.
