Anyone visiting the Berkshires and wishing for a Hilton property can rejoice. I just missed it, but as I was leaving Lenox this morning, the new Hampton Inn in Lenox, Ma had a "Grand Opening" banner across the front. Details on the various Hilton family websites. This area has been notorious over the years for providing very little in the way of chain accomodations, outside of the very low end (I spent 2 nights at a Comfort Inn). Many of the best properties are independents, which may be fine, but always it sticks in the craw of point-hog like me to get nothing in return for my money and loyalty but a good nights sleep.

Agree strongly, Chicopee and Albany are not the Berkshires. That said, I just checked for my annual trip to Tanglewood and the Berkshire Opera and the Hampton is pricing at $199. The Crowne Plaza in Pittsfield is going for $143 the same night so unless the Hampton rate comes down, I will have to burn 25,000 points for the category 3 reward or stay in scenic downtown Pittsfield. ;)

If you're old enough, you remember that the Pittsfield Crowne Plaza was a Hilton when it first opened. :D:cool:
Hey, OB I was in your neck of the woods too. BamaVol Jr #3 was looking at colleges this week, including Worcester State, but we stayed in Pittsfield due to flying in and out of ALB and WSU was his easternmost selection.

For HHonors the choice for Hamptons there used to lead to Albany by the airport or Chicopee or South Hadley, but not West Springfield, and none are great choices given the distance, so I look forward to burning 25,000 points instead of paying $199 plus tax.

An update - stayed here over the weekend. Obviously the property is new and in nice shape. The gym is decent for a Hampton, the pool is small and indoor with no jacuzzi that I saw. The breakfast area is conventional - food standard. Checkin was quick - no water in the room, but my Myway preference was points. Standard room on points. Nice sized king - no view to speak of, but green trees.
The property has a nice picnic area in the back that has a massive lawn (looks like it may share the area with the adjacent property, but it would be perfect for a nice frisbee toss or wiffle ball game). There were Adirondack chairs and a picnic table or two set on a small pond/swamp full of cat-o-nine tails at the end of the lawn with the Berkshires in the background and several bird watchers had set up shop. It looked very peaceful and was in character with the setting.
The hotel was set back from the road that hosts such illuminating hotels as Knights Inn and HoJo's. Access to Lenox and Tanglewood is easy and Pittsfield is only minutes away (as if anyone really wants to go there ;)), but we visted the Colonial Theatre for the opera. The Colonial has been beautifully refurbished but the seats are not very comfortable.
This is a great addition for visiting the Berkshires. ^
Anyone have recent experince at this property?
I'm looking to stay here mid March.
