Hilton HHonors - HH Oops: Downgraded to Silver?

In the mail today was an envelope from HH "Your new Hilton HHonors credentials have arrived." I crossed the 100K base pt mark a couple of weeks ago and assumed this would be my new Diamond card. I open it up and my first impression was "hmm, interesting redesign on the card (pebbles?)" Imagine my surprise when I actually read the blurb next to it:


Thank you for your loyalty. While your activity did not re-qualify you as a Diamond VIP this year, you have earned Silver VIP status. At this level you will continue to enjoy many Hilton HHonors benefits like a 15% bonus on Base points.

Fast Track back to HHonors Diamond VIP. Complete seven qualifying stays or 15 qualifying nights at a Hilton Family hotel between May 1 and July 31, 2008, to regain Diamond VIP status through June 2009. This elite membership level normally requires 28 stays or 60 nights during a consecutive 12-month period.

I'm not too concerned, as my account is showing accurately on the website (Diamond through May 2009.) On the plus side, I finally got targeted for a promo :D albeit one I can't use and don't need. :rolleyes:

Interestingly, same thing here... I requalified for diamond in Feb, yesterday got an envelope with a 'gold' card offering me the 7 stays by 31 Jul to regain diamond. Status online shows correctly.

It apparently doesn't take much to get a fast track target back to your previous level. I got gifted HH Gold via UA last year (why I don't know, because I haven't flown UA recently either, though I do have a modest 150k plus UA balance). I did have 2 stays (one night each) so far since then. Heh. Y'all are laughing I know. ;)

So anyway, as you might expect, I just got a new Blue card in the mail. And even with 2 stays I got a fast track back to Gold, 4 stays or 9 nights between May 1 and July 31.

Annoyingly, I have a stay scheduled on Mon night (April 21). This won't count for the fast track, only for my previous qualification. I might make it to Silver, I guess, if I can get a 4th stay in before mid-June. ;) But without this stay in the fast track I probably won't have any chance of making that. Ah, well. It wasn't entirely wasted for HH; I did have more direct stays with them than usual. It's just not a high total.

Just one silly data point. :)
