Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - 70K miles expiring

I have 70K miles expiring at the end of this month. As I am very busy flying this year already I do not see an option to get an award ticket. Getting other things from your website is almost impossible from Europe, as most of them are self-collection in Hong Kong. A few months ago, I had seen interesting things with collection or delivery in Taipei, where I have colleagues. But they seem to have disappeared now.
Is there another option to get rid of them, trading with other members for awards or upgrades? E-bay? At which rate this miles could be valued?

If you have MPC membership you could of course nominate a family member or other person close to you and let them enjoy your Asia Miles. As you surely know five persons are normally allowed to be included in this list.
and remember these award tickets are valid for one year after the tickets are issued, date-changeable without charge, and you can re-issue them (for the same person and same airline, but different routing) for USD 30.
so what I usually do is to issue a ticket for a routing I'm the most likely to take in the next 12 months. if I can use it, great. if not, I would re-issue them for USD 30 on the same airline for another route (so for me I always do it on CX first to give me the most flexibility on routing change). practically kind of extending the mileage expiration deadline by a year...

you could sell them, I know people wanting to buy at HK$0.10/mile. ...

Buying and Selling of miles is not permitted under these threads. If you wish to do so, PM the individual and not state it here for all to see.

I would say issue an upgrade redemption on a route that you fly often in... since they are valid for a year, hopefully you can apply it to a future flight...

Can you still book an upgrade redemption separately without having a confirmed Y or J booking to upgrade? The last time I did that (the website will still allows you to do it), MPC called me two days later and asked for my ticket number and/or booking reference to complete the upgrade.

Some years ago I was flying often to Hong Kong, that's why I had initially chosen for Asia Miles. I am MPC member. But now, I am mainly travelling within Europe, and have a lot more miles with the European carriers to plan my holidays and burn miles. So that's why I have still some Asia miles left in my account. I won't be able to redeem an award for myself or any friend or family member.
If I add someone to my redemption list, will he be able to book an award for himself just by giving my membership number?

No, he shouldn't. No matter how he books the redemption, he needs your password. I do not think it is a good idea to let others do the booking themselves or to have your password.

I am confused about the CX policy being discussed. In the 4-5 previous times I have used AsiaMiles to upgrade a CX Y flight (typically LAX/SFO to HKG), I have needed (or perhaps I just thought I needed) a confirmed ticket with the upgrade. In fact, I can cash out the miles and obtain an upgrade cert (for SFO/HKG for instance) and then have a year to find an itinerary to upgrade?
Not sure if you can do this with CX, but with AC there's an option to donate miles to charity. If nothing else works this might be a better option than to let them expire.

Yes, can be done easily from the MPC website after logging in.

On the subject of expiring miles, I have a few about to disappear too, but not so many. If I fill out one of the redemption forms, for an award on BA for example, would that work at this stage? Or should I just call them up? I remember them getting terribly busy at this time of the year, with last minute redemptions etc. Plus, there's no toll-free number from Switzerland.
