When I signed up for the Amex Hilton Platinum card they gave me Gold status for FREE. I just had the opportunity to use this status at the Hilton Hawaiian Village last month.
When I arrived at the HHV at the checkin counter I asked for a room in the Rainbow Tower. They said that the Rainbow tower was very tight. He said that the Tapa tower was available. I was traveling with my wife and two children. He said he had me down for a king bed and I said that might not work to good with 4 people. He found me a room with a King Bed and a pull out sofa bed and I said that would work perfectly! I actually prefer this setup with 4 people as I find the double beds in most hotels are so small it's difficult to get a comfortable nights sleep sometimes. He said the room was not quite ready and that it would be about an hour. When I checked back at that time our room was ready.
When we went up to the room and opened the door we were all smiles! The room was huge on the 30th. floor. This was a corner room which I think is why it was bigger the room number was T3044. It had a balcony with northern view of ocean off to the side. It also had a small window facing the ocean. Everything in the room looked brand new. The bathroom had two sinks new tile floor new counters, the tub/shower had a square window in it that was frosted of course. The king bed as very nice and the pull out sofa was very big.
We were given 4 breakfast certificates for me, wife, and two kids for both nights of our stay. Is it normal to get breakfast certificates for the kids traveling with the HHonors member? I had assumed that only me and my wife would get the certificates but we were given one for all of us and the front desk clerk wrote the dates of our stay on each card. We ate breakfast in the Rainbow restaurant one morning and the Tapa cafe the 2nd. morning. Both were nice but we liked the Tapa Cafe better. Wife and I had the cold breakfast both mornings which was more than adequate for use. Both my two kids upgraded to the hot breakfast for only $5 each which I thought was a STEAL!!! They loved being able to get their own food and pick whatever they wanted out, pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausages, eggs etc.
We were very pleased at how we were treated and the room upgrade we were given. I'm not sure if our room was a suite or not but it sure appeared to use to be one. Has anyone stayed in these same rooms in Tapa tower before?
The thing I didn't know about while there is I've read on here that Gold members get access to a lounge? Is this like a concierge floor or something? Do they have it at the HHV? If someone could explain this for next time that would be great. Also is there normally free access to health club with Gold status?
We are loving our GOLD VIP STATUS with Hilton!!:D:D:):)
