Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - gate changes

i don't know if anyone can answer this, but why is it that everytime i fly to the philippines and make a transfer in hong kong to cebu, the flight's gate always changes. on the plane before landing in hong kong they show the connecting flights and the gates. but once i land and get to the gate to my next flight, there's a gate change. meaning we have to walk another 4,000 miles in hong kong's long hallways. this has happened to me 2 times i've traveled to cebu. in 2000 and in 2004. we end up being taken to the plane by a bus instead and board the plane old school style by stairs. its fun seeing the planes though while on the bus =) anyway, does this happen often or something?

Gate changes, I have to say are not that common in HKG. However, CX are really famous for sudden last-minute equipment change, especially on regional routes. As the 'new' aircraft might be parked somewhere else, the gate will change.
