Hi
I have to go down to Singapore for business. As it's not a big mileage flight I am considering taking SQ. Thoughts?
If people suggest I take CX which flight down on the Sunday 18th May? See there is a real mix of equipment on this route and wondered if some of the flights might have very tired J product?
On the way back I'll take one of the later flights so will be a 744 which I'm fine with.
thanks

SQ - at least you will get AVOD for the flight to SIN.

If flying paid J and you have no mileage allegiance, I have to concur: take SQ.

I take this route a lot. IMO, best options are
HKG-SIN:
SQ1 0800/1140 - 744 with the old long-haul J product (it actually routes SFO-HKG-SIN), or
SQ861 1600/1940 - 77W with the new SQ J product
I believe that all other flights are regional business class - definitely all the CX non-stops are regional business.
SIN-HKG:
SQ862 1100/1445 - 77W
SQ2 1750/2135 - 744
CX716 1830/2210 - 744

HKG > SIN
SQ1 Spacebed B747-400
SQ857 Regional B777-200
SQ863 Regional B777-300
SQ861 New Business Class B777-300ER
SQ865 Spacebed B747-400
SQ891(?) Regional B777-200
Regional Business Seats are like CX's, Spacebed are angled lie-flat seats (like CX's long-haul product), New Business Class means the biggest and best business class seat in the world IMO.
I'll take SQ over CX anytime.

SQ862 1100/1445 on the return leg will get you a B777-300ER as well.

Well, it's very telling that people on this board unanimously recommend SQ over CX! (BTW - FWIW, I would go for SQ too!)

It's a no brainer if the choice is between CX regional J and SQ spacebed J / new J.
Apples to apples comparison on J, I prefer CX. I even prefer new CX J to new SQ J. SQ looks MUCH nicer, but have found it isn't nearly as comfortable as it looks. Hard to find a good sitting position. The big TV screen is nice though.
I would definitely go for SQ if I don't have a DM/Emerald status (given that their full fares are the same too).

I'd also take CX in the apples-to-apples comparison. In a choice between the SQ1 and the CX716 for SIN-HKG, I take the CX flight every time.
Also, CX lounge and check-in experience at HKG is way superior to anything that SQ can offer even in T3 at SIN. CX lounge in SIN not great, but if you are OW Emerald, you can use the BA/QF F Lounge instead.

(From a multi-million miler on CX metal): I choose to take SQ on this route every single time. As I always rush to airports at the very last second, I seldome have the luxury to enjoy lounges and other land-based benefits. But for that 3.5-4 hr that I rest in my seat, I find the overall product experience (ie equipment, food, service) of SQ far superior to CX on THIS segment.
Airlines compete head-to-head on various sectors. On THIS route, when you compare what CX CHOOSES to provide against the SQ offerings, SQ wins hands down currently.
