Starwood Preferred Guest - Sheraton Atlantic Beach, NC
HI,
I was looking for any feeedback on this property. I'm thinking of spending a weekend here with wife & our triplets (age 2.5). We've never been to this area and could use some info.
How is the beach? Kid friendly? Pools? Restaurants?
Should I expect any kind of upgrade as a Gold?
I've done a couple searches but not come up with anything recent. Seems like a pretty good use of 3K points on a weekend.
Thanks in advance.

This is not the property I was looking at. The Sheraton Atlantic Beach is in Atlantic Beach, NC, not VA.
Thanks anyway.

We stayed there last year - July 4th weekend - when I was very pregnant. It depends on what your expectations are...
How is the beach? Kid friendly?
Beach was nice - easy access from hotel which is perfect with kiddies.
Pools?
I thought the pool was on the small side - and packed to the gills with splashing children...but it was a holiday weekend.
Restaurants?
Mediocre Inside
Did like the pool grill overlooking the ocean - hamburgers & stuff, music, fun
Should I expect any kind of upgrade as a Gold?
I used points for the trip - didn't get an upgrade. The rooms were also mediocre - but clean. We did have a small fridge, which is also nice with kids.
Wasn't that impressed with the property - but I'm VERY picky!!! Especially since I was not that comfortable....being pregnant and all.
I've heard there are some nice Starwood properties at Hilton Head....but it was too far a drive for us at that time.

Previous poster is on the mark. If you're looking for a classy getaway, this will sorely disappoint you. If you know the area, then you know that this part of NC is fairly "thin" in terms of entertainment and dining options. There are few "resort" type facilities in these parts. This is a traditional quiet family place that is NOT upscale. If you want Hilton Head, then don't come here!
If, however, you like the outer banks and want to stay at a dated, but okay, hotel....then this will fit the bill. You will be neither delighted nor disgusted. There frankly are not many other options available. Most folks who come to this area opt to rent a nice house for the week with full facilties......
