I may have screwed up when I booked tickets for my boyfriend and I for a trip to Bangkok. We leave on Sunday, so I was checking my confirmations for flight and hotel. Just to make sure I had everything in order. When I looked at my flight confirmation, I realized that his first and last names are swapped. Does anyone know Cathay's policy on situations like this? Unfortunately, it is too late for me to call right now.

Whenever I book anything online I always triple, even quadruple, check everything before I click on Submit.... I can't see how this got past me. Is it possible there was a screw up on their end?

I'm freaking out right now... Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated....

I've got a feeling this may be a bug in the system - I too am usually pretty careful and the same thing has happened to me on both of my two most recent bookings!

The first is already flown. I called Cathay and they told me they couldn't change it but I should call their credit card helpline (now lost the number, I'm afraid). In the end I never got round to calling, and experienced no problems at all.

Hope that's the same for the unflown flights - since they're to and from honeymoon!!

I suggest you try to call if you can - but otherwise don't worry about it, I'm sure you'll be fine.

I had situations where the title was wrong. And once a redemption booking got the wrong name(!!!) off the redemption list.
Anyway, I would strongly suggest you to call CX now and explain the situation (that the last name and first name are swapped). They MIGHT be able to put in a note for the problem. Or, you can see waht they suggests you.
Good luck.

No need to panic.

Just call and tell CX that the names are swapped... and you should be ok when you check in. The only problem will be if there are miles to be credited, then you would need to make sure the names match!

Who made the booking? If it was CX, then CX would have to correct it. If you did on line, then the note to reseravtion would do. But you would have to contact your FFP to deail with the miles credit yourself later on.

Did it before. It is no problem. You can check in as usual. If they are having trouble finding your booking give them the PNR.

When booking a maid's ticket. Not sure if I entered incorrectly or a system error, but it happened.

Phoned MPC and they put me through to a technical person and was given a choice.

Fax change of details to them or make a new booking and the old booking would be manually cancelled without penalty.

I took the second option, no fax!

All quick painless and efficient.

I too have done it. In my case, it happened because the CX website asks for the Chinese tradition of family name before given name (unlike most other -Western - websites I am used to). Only noticed when I went to check-in at the airport and, apart from the staff probably thinking I was a muppet, it did not cause any problems.

Thank you all so much for the responses. I called CX and they put a note on the reservation. I was also told that if I wanted to change the name, they would charge me $100. I accepted the note. After all of the responses I have received from all of you, I feel a lot better.

Thanks again!!:)
