Hi, I am an old hand at enjoying Bali to the max but that causes you to get into a rut, I have my haircut at the same place, massage at the same places, eat at the same reliable spots, cocktails at the same bar, shop in the same strip, you know how it is?

Anyone been lately and seen or eaten something new exciting colourful tasty?

Don't worry if you haven't, I will have a great time doing nothing, going nowhere, eating and drinking where nobody knows me, wearing the shorts, sandals and top I always do, laying under a tree with a good book and partaking of the club room's evening drinks. What more do we need out of life?

Just waiting for business to get back to normal in BKK after the holidays, then on my reckoning it should be late April to relax, maybe, please post if you been anywhere, doesn't have to be grand, preferable not, regards bkkrop

Bali, same old boring over rated, corrupt dirty place ideally suited to people who like to stick their head in the sand to the real Bali which will make any grown man cry

I feel your pain; but, the masses will have absolutely no pitty for us :)

I have recently started spreading my wings and hitting many areas of the island. The Menjangan area is nice and I really enjoyed lazing around the Gawana Novus. Drinks at the infinity pool is an etched memory.

Bumming in Amed was pretty sweet and a bit off the grid. Grab a bag of salt if you head up there and I recommend Life in Amed for a cozy place. Cold Bintang on te patio and I got seriously hooked on the breakfast.

Just outside Ubud, to the northwest is a neat area Lungdiskan (sp?) with nice artist studios and cool little breezy bars/restaurants. Great place to cruise for unique art and have an adult beverage :)

Hope this works as a good start.
