Has anyone traveled this J class window seat before? The seatmap shows the fuselage tapering in towards the nose at this seat. Is there any lose of space in this seat due to that? Should I move back one row to 25K ?

In my experience, there is no noticible difference in space at row 23 or 24 on the QF 747's. However, on the J config, the economy cabin starts just behind row 24. So to avoid the noise that can come from the back of the bus, I would strongly recommend trying for rows 1-5 or 11-19.

From the seat maps shown online, it looks like row 28 ends "J" class and then you have the galley and just the AB seats on cattle class. The one seat map also shows a break or bulkhead behind row 24. This was on QF.com for the 747-438 (66J + 366Y)

Have you flown on such a bird as described?

thanks

I was describing the 74J as it is known by QF. That is the 2-class config 747-438 which has business class only back to row 24, then economy behind that. The original poster did not make it clear which config is being used, but I guess the mention of moving back to row 25 should imply a 3-class config.

Either way, row 23 and 24 are in the same place on the 74J and the other 744 configs and I have never noticed any less space in those rows in any of the QF 747-400 configs. And yes, I have travelled in rows 23-27 on many, many occasions on QF 744's. My prefered seat on the 3-class config is 23D, but I would not take roes 23-24 on the 74J config, inseat seeking 5E/F as first preference.

I'm not familiar with the 74J config. Are these the RR powered 2 class 66J + 366Y config?

Thanks
