I have just found flyertalk, and although the site is full of information of the various programmes, I am struggling to work out what is the best combination of Hotel, Credit Card and Flyer programme to maximise benefits.

I am already a Hilton HHonors member earning points from an average 5 nights per month stays and spending about £1K - £1.5K per month on expenses.

Grateful for any advice, have been told that BMI Credit card and programme is good.

Welcome to Flyertalk, rosenbp.
Bmi are highly regarded especially in terms of Frequent Flyer Programmes...As regards cards, every time I've done the numbers it was better to go for a cashback card instead (as long as this is allowed by your employer, of course)!
Our American brethren here find a lot of value in the various hotel programmes but I can't really see the point for a Europe-based traveller...There are so many independent choices/small chains, that case-by-case shopping usually is better than sticking to one programme...but then again I am not spending anywhere near £1k a month on hotels, so it may be different for you!
What are your flying patterns?
