American Express Membership Rewards - Waiting for My Platinum Card

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Platinum card. I got approved on Friday (with the 50,000 MRP bonus), so I should be receiving it soon I assume.

On the 50,000 membership reward point offer, it says in fine print that I must be enrolled in Membership Rewards First program at time of first purchase to get the bonus. I have the Gold plus card now, so I am a member of the membership rewards program, but I assume that when I got approved for the Platinum I was automatically upgraded to the Membership Rewards First program? Is this the correct assumption?

Also, my current Membership Rewards points will transfer into the Membership Rewards First program, right?

As a Platinum card holder, you will automatically be enrolled in the Membership Rewards First program. I am not sure if your current MR points will transfer into the MR First program as I have only had a platinum card and never a gold one. I would assume that they would not transfer to the new program however you may want to contact Amex to find out for sure or perhaps someone on the forum will know for sure. Enjoy your new Platinum card.

Correct. You will have only one Membership Rewards account and it will reflect the highest tier for which you are eligible. On membershiprewards.com you will be able to see that the account has been coded for Membership Rewards First because you will have access to some additional awards that are hidden from standard members, and the Points Advance amount will increase from 15,000 to 60,000 points.
