Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Priceline from Switzerland; experiences?

Hi guys!

I read around on the web, including some of the websites that are suggested here on FT, but I still have some questions?

1) I understand I can use a Swiss address and credit card to book an hotel in the US. Do you have any suggestions as to what to put in the reservation form (city, state, zip, ecc).

2) How long does it take until I know whether my bid was accepted or not? I am looking for two rooms in July. Is it too early to bid? Will I have to wait for a long time until I have an answer from priceline?

3) If I enter priceline.ch in the URL, I am redirected to priceline.co.uk. Should I use this or can I use priceline.com, too?

You'd be better of at www.biddingfortravel.com with the kinds of questions you are asking. They have a huge set of FAQs. I have used Priceline for hotels in Zurich but my bid was to the US site from Canada.

I think that the OPs question is different. He is not looking (presumably) to book a hotel in Switzerland. He wants to book from Switzerland.

I use a german credit card and have had no problems. Simply alter your address to something like: Basel, California 99999 Since Priceline will never send you any (snail) mail, the address is just to verify the credit card.

You will find out almost instantly whether you have had your bid accepted. Generally about 20-30 seconds. I've had great wins from Sydney to Hamburg, Zürich to California.

I have always used priceline.com -- never priceline.uk only because I feel more at home translating everything into $$.

As B1 says, do some research at www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com There is a very helpful moderator at the second website. The first (biddingfortravel) has gotten much friendlier than it used to be, but the volunteers (who are doing a great job) are overwhelmed by the amount of postings and questions.
