Hello!

I'm travelling in the US in August and I joined Triprewards as I'll have many stays in motels or Ramadas. I chose Miles & More as option because I don't have use for points used for stays (and because there is a M&M-promotion until September). However, I noticed that you only get M&M-miles for stays at Ramada and Wyndham. So what about other stays? Are they credited to my TR-account as points or will I get nothing then?
If they credit points, I could transfer them to my United-account.

Thanks for your help! :)

It's unclear what you get if you set your preference to M&M and then stay at a property that doesn't give them.

If you have enough time between property stays, you can change your earning preference online, but I'm not sure when it applies for this program (at some programs it matters what your preference is at time of booking, at others at time of check-out, and yet others at moment of posting to the hotel account).

One thing that's been discussed about points vs miles here in other threads: Even if you want miles (in programs other than M&M), it's better to collect points, because the way the math works you get more miles by earning points first and then converting to miles than by earning miles directly (with those airlines that have per-dollar miles earnings, as opposed to M&M which has flat per-stay miles earnings).

But keep in mind that this may not be a good time to ask anyway (if your stays aren't until August). Next month TripRewards is changing to WyndhamRewards, and it's not clear whether it's only the name or whether anything else will change at the same time.
