It's been a couple years since I've rented from Hertz, but for the longest time I remember that in order to get a weekend rate you had to rent a car after noon on Thursday and return by 11:59pm on Monday. This applied to $$ off coupons too on weekends. I received an email from Southwest Airlines announcing that Rapid Rewards Members can save 50% off on weekend rentals and get double credits by using CDP 205418 and PC 118882. So I went to the Hertz Website and used those numbers to see if it worked for a rental at BWI arriving on a Thursday afternoon in June and leaving on a Tuesday afternoon. Sure enough it did. It appears the coupon code took 50%off all the days (including Tuesday). Is this normal?

I'm always amazed at the rate difference between weekend and weekday. In SAN, had price of $189 for Wednesday through Saturday, and $79 for Thursday through Saturday.

I was shocked to learn how much Hertz charges for Tuesday rentals. I was snowed in at MKE several weeks ago, after having a car Sat-Mon, so I called Hertz to see how much it would cost for me to keep the car from Monday night to 6am Tuesday when I could possibly catch a red eye flight out and they told me somewhere in the neighborhood of 120$. 75$ for 6 hours seemed far too excessive to me on top of a 46$ 3 day rental, so I just turned the car in and paid 2 bucks to use a bus.

We just covered this topic pretty thoroughly in the How long is a "Weekend" (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=802489) thread
