I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the surcharge for WT+ has changed. It is now possible to upgrade to QF Premium Economy as well as BA World Traveller Plus but looking at the fares today it shows the surcharges as
SECTORS BETWEEN SWP-AFRICA AUD1100/GBP500/USD1000
SECTORS BETWEEN SWP-EUROPE AUD1100/GBP500/USD1000
SECTORS BETWEEN SWP-NTH AMERICA AUD1100/GBP500/ USD1000
SECTORS BETWEEN SWP-STH AMERICA AUD1100/GBP500/ USD1000
SECTORS BETWEEN SWP-ASIA AUD750/GBP350/USD700
SECTORS BETWEEN EUROPE-AFRICA AUD750/GBP350/USD700
SECTORS BETWEEN EUROPE-ASIA AUD750/GBP350/USD700
SECTORS BETWEEN EUROPE-NTH AMERICA AUD750/GBP350/ USD700
SECTORS BETWEEN EUROPE-STH AMERICA AUD750/GBP350/ USD700
SECTORS WITHIN CONTINENTS AUD750/GBP350/USD700
Quite a change from the USD450 for flights between UK and Australia and USD300 elsewhere. ( AUD900/AUD600 for tickets issued in AUD/NZD)

While I've my normal WP exit seat preallocation on QF WHY, I'm not gunna go for Y+ at those costs. Nor upgrade on points for that matter - (Business class is different :p)

Well the uplift in AUD isn't as bad as the uplift in USD...
Certainly wouldn't be upgrading on a BA sector

True, but that's only because the AUD rate was already nearly double everyone elses rate. The new rates have brought the upgrade rates nearly in line with each other but with a price rise of nearly 25% over the old AUD rate .

Nice little windfall for BA.

Apart from that which they lose to QF
On the plus side, it does now mean that a LONE4 can have all the intercontinental sectors in premium economy albeit at AUD3350 for AU-ASIA-UK-US-AU

That is only on the kangaroo route. On the other routes they earn a lot more than they did before for no change in product.

Assuming the offering is still available, the QF/BA WT+ Oz-Europe with a return via North America or South America (Rule 5892 WxEE1Y fares which had a price increase announced early on the PremEcon discussion) might be a far better deal - even if you have to spend $1000 on USA fares on AA or SthAmerica fares on LAN or SEAsia fares on CX or the discount carriers. I recall it went from about AU$4K to just under AU$5K.
Anyone have reservation system access to verify the fare is still offerred?

That fare has now climbed to AUD5998+++. You can get it out of NZ for AUD4846+++. And upon reading the fare routing rules it seems you can no longer go through South America. This of course may change once QF begin their service to EZE.
On the plus side, it does now mean that a LONE4 can have all the intercontinental sectors in premium economy albeit at AUD3350 for AU-ASIA-UK-US-AU

For roughly the same money as a LLONE4 plus paying for all the upgrades to Premium Economy, you could fly out of NAN on a DGLOB34. Not as much distance, to be sure, but a lot more comfortable.
At the risk of hijacking the thread...
The Premium Economy Flexi fare now seems to have a single season (the old one had low and high); also the fare allows alot of flexibility, including travel in Europe on AY, IE and even BD; it allows a maximum of 6 stopovers, 3 in either direction; it also allows unlimited transfers, but before you get too excited it has the following caveat:
Stopovers:
6 FREE STOPOVERS PERMITTED - 3 IN EACH DIRECTION.
NOTE -
STOPOVERS PERMITTED ONLY AT TRANSFER POINTS SHOWN
ON THE ROUTE MAP.
Transfers:
UNLIMITED TRANSFERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT
FARE BREAK AND EMBEDDED SURFACE SECTORS PERMITTED ON THE
FARE COMPONENT.
NOTE -
AS PER ROUTE MAP.
The route limitations based on CHC-HEL are as follows:

Also it books into W where Premium Economy exits; Y in BA in Europe; and B on QF where no Premium Economy.

Except that it involves going to NAN to start the journey of course And there is something wrong with going to NAN? Some great beaches and diving there, I'm led to believe.....
