I guess this was the annual renewal package. I got a very nice leather passport holder/wallet. I assume this went to just about everybody as opposed to the camera rigamarole.

I think that goes to everyone.

Did anyone else get the nice assortment of Vosges gourmet truffles and other assorted chocolates the week before last? Very, very nice and nearly $100 in very high-end chocolates.

I received both gifts, but didn't care for the chocolate. I prefer Hershey's. :)

No on the truffles and I love chocolate. Maybe they were really clever and knew I'd be in Europe. But if no truffles I might even call and ask for some.....

so no, at least I didn;t get them!

Chocolates had unusual flavors. My wife, a chocolate addict, did not care for them. The wallet was nice.

Can someone post a picture of the wallet? Does it have Amex branding on it, or is it just a standard wallet?

Wallet itself has no Amex branding on it but the pull out credit card holder says Centurion in the bottom right corner (embossed)

Wallet came a rather expensive package that included the 2008 guides. Outside packaging probably cost several dollars to produce and I must say is quite ingenious...

Yeah everyone inside the US.

No one else seems to get anything from the tightwads at Amex

No doubt many US Centurion cardholders would be happy to forgo the gifts if they could pay the UK annual fee.

Any gifts were given in Holland?

For those who are interested, here are pics I found (no this isn't my auction). I can't believe this guy is selling it for $299...

I have to quit throwing all that stuff out every year!

I'd gladly give up all the gifts they send in exchange for the what people in the UK and elsewhere get - oodles of free additional cards, second cent cards, extra green and plat cards.

I could buy many digital cameras and a truckload of chocolate with that savings.

Not that I don't appreciate what the send us as gifts, but before someone outside the US starts complaining about not getting a box of chocolates, step back and look at the big picture.

That's totally absurd, its currently at $670 and the reserve isn't met yet.

BTW, what is this package exactly? Is this what comes with the personal version? The business version about a year and a half ago didn't look anything like this.

I'm pretty sure that auction isn't legit by eBay standards...credit cards must be at least 10 years past the printed expiration date before they can be sold. It will be taken down before it's over...guaranteed

Edit to add- Ebay policy says 10 years http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/credit-cards.html

Ya know, that brings up a pretty interesting idea to help cover the annual fees for Centurion -- make a bunch of BS cards on credit card plastic (not too hard to find), make it look like a Centurion, but blatantly different at the same time because people that buy this probably won't notice, and then sell on eBay for a hundred bucks each. I think one could sell at least 10-15 in a year :-: :D

I get offers like this all the time including the same type of fake card with no name and such. This is just the plastic filler card that comes in the mail. Never thought to sell it, seems stupid anyone would buy it!

Try the Aussie Annual Fee @ US$4000 (AUD$4300) and for this we get ... well less than the US or UK!

I was looking at the benefits the other day and we get no airline status and no real hotel status, in fact really nothing you cant just buy (for a lot less than US$4000).

The money does not really bother me, but the feeling that I am being screwed does.

Not so sure you'd be happy with the "benefits" though! I'd happily pay the higher fee if we were getting 3 top tier airline cards as well.

It really is amazing what people will pay for things.

I've seen the plastic luggage tags often go for 100 GBP and even the free magazine going for good money.

Wow some people want to be on Front Street.
Fake ballers maybe lol......

If you can't afford a real one you shouldn't have one.

If you need one that badly go to a company who will get you a buisness Centurion thats what my old job used to give us.
